Please chance me ... I'd really really appreciate it!

bummmmppp!!!

I think that you have a really good shot at chicago and the michigan ones.

I wouldn't at ALL be suprised if you got into northwestern...

brown/stanford are always iffy but i think that you may have a shot at those too!

I think that if you can, you should send in a recording of yourself playing the cello. Doing so would probably help your chances a lot!

Your scores are impressive and though your ECs are a little modest, I think that they're pretty good.

P.S. I did summer@brown! (were you '07)?

Thanks for chancing me earlier - mind you, the reason why I posted a chance thread is because I don't know how to evaluate myself beyond a certain point, but I guess it is still good to know how others generally feel about you when you are in such a self-selected group like on CC.

Overall, your record seems strong - you have taken rigorous classes and did well. Your GPA is still competitve I feel, especially if you send in your AP scores (it depends on what classes you took that lowered your GPA - were they the AP's, or ones that you weren't related to your interests? If they were the AP courses, sending your scores would help). SAT's, ACT's, and SAT II's are great for the level of schools you're looking at, and your EC's seem good, although you don't seem to have had really strong leadership positions besides with cello. The state awards are great though.

My guess is you'll have a great shot at most places, with University of Chicago really depending on your essay to distinguish yourself (they REALLY emphasize that I think). The same goes for the other schools as well. The biggest reach is probably Stanford, but even then you have a good shot.

I hoped that helped - thanks again for chancing me! (and kudos for the idea of exchanging chances: that gets a lot of people to actually visit ur page :-P)

Finally, someone else who plays an instrument!!! (I play the oboe.) Anyway, your stats look pretty impressive but as you probably know, it is very difficult to gain admissions to brown or stanford. Regardless, your chances at the others seem very good and I hope you keep up the cello playing!!!!

Thanks everyone! I wish good luck to everyone!!!

Brown- High Match (Due to being an Ivy)

Have you held any leadership positions in your volunteering work or band? Other than that, everything seems there. Academically you look great. If you want to you can comment on me. I'd really appreciate it!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/541957-cccchances.html

Umich: you're in/safety
U Of Chicago: high match
Brown: slight reach (its an ivy league school)
NW: match
Stanford: biggest reach on list, but definitely possible
Mich State: no idea about school, but since it's a state school i'd say you're guaranteed in

there we go!
thanks for the reply in my chances thread

What chances do I have at UMich (applying in September), U of Chicago, Brown, Northwestern, and Stanford? I really do like U of Chicago's Econ program, and I have MSU (Mich State U) as a safety.

Thanks for responding to me.

UMIch- safety
Chicago-match
Brown-match-reach
Northwestern-match
Stanford-match-reach
Stanford and Brown are very picky but you have excellant SATs, great grades, and good extracurriculars. Good luck

My cousin went to the university of Chicago for international relations + language. She got in with lower stats than you. I hope this helps.

U of Chicago- slight reach
Stanford- Reach (college is to chaotic to predict)
Brown-slight reach
Michigan-not sure
Northwestern- slight reach
Thanks for the comment on my chance, and good luck in your endeavors =)

Haha, thanks for the long post on my thread, I really appreciate it. Anyways, I'll get down to business.

Stanford - Reach - I believe this is one of the hardest schools to get into. My friend did not get into Stanford ED but got into Harvard. But I would definitely try it, I personally think Stanford is like the perfect school, too.

Brown - Medium Reach - I think if you got a few more leaderships - maybe get some more your senior year, it could be easier. Oh wait, but you took summer classes here, that certainly won't hurt.

UChicago - Certainly a good bet. Slight reach I think, but I think it very well may be an in.

Northwestern - Same as UChicago

Michigan and Michigan State are definite ins.

University of Michigan - in
Univeristy of Chicago - match/slight reach
Brown - slight reach/match
Northwestern - match
Stanford - reach
Michigan State - mega safety

overall, you look pretty good, no glaring weaknesses. Grades, SAT/AP, activities all good...
I'd say Brown and Stanford chances are unpredictable just because of the caliber of the applicant pool...
Northwestern is more likely... U chicago depends on essays.

thx for chance me, ur advice really helps!!!! Hopefully u can get into the colleges u like...
ur GPA is good and amazing sat scores.. and solid EC's.
University of Michigan - in
Univeristy of Chicago - match
Brown - slight reach/match
Northwestern - Slight Reach/match
Stanford - reach

U of Michigan - Safety- Match (in -state)
U of Chicago - Match - Slight reach
Northwestern - Match
Brown - Slight Reach
Stanford - High Reach

I think academics are good, you just need more APs? Maybe self-study?
Your ECs are good and you volunteer a lot and that's also valued
Maybe try an internship for work experience?

I know there are people who self-study APs and take 12-14 APs on this site ... that's just insane. For me, 9 total is more than enough.

I might self-study government and/or psych, because I can't take either class in school b/c they won't fit in my senior schedule.

I may or may not work as an engineering intern .... not so sure yet.

Thanks alot peachsnapple!

you are a very good applicant. I would say you are in to Michigan because you are in state. Northwestern is match as well as Chicago if you can be creative on essays. Michigan state... safety.. the others are slight reach..

I would love it if you chanced me back... 'No one loves me!! do you?' lol

Good luck

u are good in almost every aspect.
try to break the 3.85 gpa barrier b4 u send off your apps, that will def. help A LOT

the only thing i'm concerned about is that your school sends 20 people to the Top 20 schools - that could really hurt your chances, because you'd be competing against your classmates (and I dont know their stats/experiences)

UMich - low safety
UC - Low Reach
Brown - no opinion
Northwestern - High Match/Low reach (gpa-oriented)
stanfored - reach
michigan state - safety
