This says it all: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/403810-before-you-post-your-chances-thread.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/403810-before-you-post-your-chances-thread.html</a></p>

Not lookin' great. Especially as an international.

Not to hijack a thread (even though that's exactly what I'm doing), but what exactly constitutes an International student? I've lived in California my whole life, so it's not like it concerns me beyond my curiosity, but I always thought an International was a student that applies to a school while a resident of a foreign country.

Your standardized testing and GPA are below UChicago's median, so this puts you at a big disadvantage; your international status only makes it worse.

HOWEVER, your involvement with musical activities is pretty good.

All that being said, I don't think you'd have a very good chance, based on your resume and international status. But essays are very important for Chicago - it's still possible.

thank you everyone. I've been doing practice tests for SAT and ACT and will be taking both in October. I am also taking courses at the harvard extension school (linear algebra and physics) hoping that it will boost my academic record. but thank you again everyone for your replies :)
