Colleges of Interest:

College of William and Mary
Dartmouth College
McGill University
Tulane University (EA)
Johns Hopkins University(ED, with interview)
University of Richmond
University of Florida (both parents attended)
University of British Columbia
University of Victoria (anyone know about this one?)
University of Vermont (EA)

(Note: I know all of the colleges I have listed are huge reaches for me, I just wanted some idea, thanks!)

College of William and Mary- reach
Dartmouth- super reach
McGill- i would say a reach, it's harder to get in if you don't live in canada
Tulane- slight reach
Johns Hopkins- reach
university of florida- high match

The only reason most of the schools you have are reaches is due to your SAT scores, but you said you retaking so if you do better it will definately increase your chances. Also, many people do much better on the ACT than on the SAT.

Dartmouth is very big (or so I hear) on grades. Having said that, your GPA and SAT scores are kind of low for their standards. Retaking it will greatly improve your chances.

Your ECs are good, and leadership is evident (especially founding the History Club). Also, having focused ECs revovling around history is great, especially being a history major.

I don't know too much about the other schools, sorry.

^ Early action is nonbinding, so you can apply EA to as many schools as you want [unless one school is SCEA, Single Choice Early Action, in which case you may only apply early to one but it is still not binding] ED = Early Decision = binding

Thanks, so much for all the feedback.
Seeing as all the colleges i'm looking at seem to be reaches, does anyone have any ideas on a safety or a match??? Please??

Seeing as all the colleges i'm looking at seem to be reaches, does anyone have any ideas on a safety or a match??? Please??
PLEASE? haha
And bump...

they are all pretty much reaches at this point, but don't worry/give up! just do well on your ACTs or SATs in september and october and try to bring that GPA up if possible. if you hit a 30+ or a 2100, then everything changes!

College of William and Mary - reach. just get those scores up and it won't be a reach anymore.
Dartmouth College - high reach, esp. since you're not applying early.
McGill University - reach
Tulane University - low reach
Johns Hopkins University - reach. again, work on scores. also, make sure that your SAT IIs that you're taking in november can be rushed to the school. check their website for their policies. some schools (cornell, i think) hate it when people send in their scores late when applying ED. CHECK JHU'S POLICY!
University of Richmond - match
University of Florida - double legacy, in-state -- this is your safety
University of British Columbia - no idea.
University of Victoria - no idea. is this also a canadian school?
University of Vermont - possible safety, esp. if you get those SATs up.

Thanks, CrystalPineapple.
I did look at Hopkins and their policy on turning it in in November, it didn't seem to be too much of a problem (although clearly its not going to be the BEST thing) Is it better to just take the ACT in september and october and then the SAT II's in october rather rather re-doing my sats do you think? That way nothing will be late?? Thanks!!!
(And yes, UVictoria is in Canada as well..)
