Please chance me. Looking at average schools.

First I want to say that my high school is the second to the worst in high school academics in the state mainly because of kids not wanting to learn anything.

The best school that a student of the class of 09' is going to is UC Irvine.

We only offer 3 AP Classes: Language and Composition, Calculus AB, and Government (Brand New)

State: Hawaii
Ethnicity: Hispanic/Mexican American

GPA: 3.6 UW 3.7-3.8
UC GPA: 3.84
Class Rank: Top 10%
SAT's: 1740 (CR 620 M 570 W 550) (Hoping for higher, took June SAT)
SAT Subject Test: Still deciding on what to take.
EC's: Varsity Basketball- Top 50 player in the state of Hawaii
Some Government Activities

Teacher Rec's: They love me
Counselor Rec: She loves me

This year I had an epiphany and I decided to take the most rigorous class schedule next year that my school can offer. We do 4 classes a semester so its something like this..

1-AP Calculus
2-AP Language-Composition
3-Physics
4-Spanish

then

1-AP Calculus
2-AP Language-Composition
3-Economics/Psychology
4-Spanish

I plan to major in Psychology or Political Science then go on to Law School.

The colleges I plan to apply to are:

Pepperdine University
University of San Francisco
University of San Diego
San Diego State University
University of California-Davis
University of California-Irvine
University of California-San Diego (Reach)
University of California-Los Angeles (Reach)
University of Southern California (Reach)

Thanks for anything contributions you might have.

Saying your looking at average schools then listing good UC’s makes people less likely to chance you.

LOL. Good point.

First example…you.

The only non-average schools are my 3 reaches. Which is why they are reaches.

UCs will be a reach more than anything else. Up the SATs and have a strong senior year then maybe you will have a ok chance (30%+) on all of your schools.

Chance me back please.

First, I’m going to assume that with all the UCs on your list, financial aid is not an issue. You are highly unlikely to get a cent above Federal aid, which is just a dent in the $45K plus per year they will cost you as an OOS student. Also note the 4 year graduation rates which are low. Without many AP classes it is likely to take you 5 years to get your degree, so plan on spending well over $200K for a UC.

Both your GPA and SAT scores are below average for the UCs on your list. If scores don’t raise significantly, you should consider UCSC, UCR and UCM. The private colleges can give you a boost for being Hispanic, so you’ll probably do better with them.

Also have you checked the UC requirements? There are 15 specific classes that must be taken in high school and since you only take 4 classes a semester you may not qualify. You may need to go to a community college and then go to uc as a transfer student.
