I don’t know how to put this in anything other than the truth. To be honest, your application is somewhat scattered in focus and I’m not sure how your ECs and essays reflect your intended major. Don’t get me wrong; they seem like really interesting essays and you do have good diversity in your ECs. Apart from these, your GPA and SAT are somewhat low for the university. Having been rejected by UCSD and UCSB doesn’t bode well for you either. Overall, I would expect the worst, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance at all to get in. Ideally you would be accepted for political sciences, but if they don’t see you as a fit for that major, they may accept under another major or as undeclared.
Best of luck!

You don’t have a huge shot. I’d say you have a 15% shot at UCLA IF you are in state. If you are out of state, there is almost no chance for you (1%-2%).

Your GPA isn’t good and the UC’s are really focused on GPA. Your SAT also isn’t up to par. But, if your extracurriculars were awesome and personal statements well written and reveal what kind of person you are, they may look closer at your app.

Unfortunately, your extracurriculars don’t look too focused. While you have a lot, there isn’t anything that shows your passion.

I’m not going to lie. It’s going to be a miracle if you get in, but don’t give up hope.

In the meanwhile, are you sure you can handle the rigor of UCLA? It’s an incredibly competitive environment and if you struggle to get a 3.2 GPA, then UCLA might not be the best choice for you. That’s just some food for thought.

Whatever may happen, I wish you the best in the rest of your admissions. Waiting can be so difficult, but it can be exciting at the same time! =)

how can you be in NHS if your UW GPA is only 3.2?

@aceaites…it was this year (my senior year) when i decided to just apply as a political science major but before i wanted to do something in sciences…which is why i have so many math/sciences classes…plus i have way more ecs but i didnt feel like putting it up haha…anyway my gpa was like that because my sophomore year my last grandparent died and i was the one that had to walk with the coffin to the grave and it took a toll on my work…however my junior year i was able to get practically all As for both semesters

@happyiam…for nhs at my school, we were to have at least a 3.0 weighted in order to join…csf it had to be at least 5 As (which is why i did it my junior/senior years)…so sophomore year i had i think a 3.0 or 3.1…i know its practically impossible to get in for me but hopefully they see that i have been doing even better each year (im URM but i dont think that makes a difference haha)

It’s not impossible, but it’ll be tough because there are so many other superb applicants out there who are competing against you. Of course, anything is possible, so best of luck to you!
Chance me?? 4.18 uc gpa/29 act/690 match 2c/top 5% of school? I know my gpa and sat are kinda below the avg for UCLA but do I have a fair chance??

@purplet1ger you have a really good chance of getting in…many of my friends that got in last year had about the same stats as you! good luck!!

A lot of extracurriculars doesn’t mean anything if there’s no focus or passion behind them. A person who is in 10 different clubs for varying lengths of time will always look worse than a person who is in 2 clubs for 4 years and has been an officer too.

As for your academic struggles in sophomore year, did you put that in your application? If you did, then they might over look it.

Again, your chance isn’t GREAT but it’s still there! One more day! Nervousness. D:
