Interested in:
Cornell, NYU, College of William and Mary, UVA, Boston University, and Barnard

Cornell Hotel Administration - Pretty good chance, but ACT score still makes it reach
NYU - Depends on the college. I’d say low reach at CAS and Steinhardt, but reach for Stern.
UVA - Low reach because you’re out of state.
W&M, BU - Probably accepted. Be very strange if you got rejected here.
Barnard - Match/low match. ACT score is bringing you down, but Barnard is nowhere near as competitive as Columbia.

Honestly, you’re only problem is the ACT. Are you planning to retake? If not, I’d highly recommend it. You’re obviously pretty smart, so a prep course or two should be enough. It doesn’t seem like you’re applying ED anywhere, so I’d definitely suggest taking the December ACT and aiming for a 33 or higher. Anything lower will hurt you.

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1407315-chances-carnegie-mellon-mcs-ed.html</a></p>

I’m applying ED at NYU for the CAS program.
I highly doubt my ACT will go up, these test are not my strong point and I have known that so I tried to shine in other parts of my application process.

but you really think Cornell is a possibility for me? :)

Its the Hotel school, so you definitely have a shot. I know someone with a 3.4 GPA from my high school (essentially in top 30% of my class) who was accepted to the Hotel school. That’s anecdotal evidence of course, but I think you could get in provided your essays are REALLY strong (to compensate for low ACT).

BTW, can you chance me back on my thread?

if you apply ED2 for NYU CAS, I think you have a pretty good chance in getting in. I am also applying ED2 for NYU (Stern), http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1411720-please-chance-me.html</a>
Cornell Hotel School, you have a good shot because although the Ivy League name, the Hotel School isn’t an interest to a lot of ppl so your competition is minimal compared to many other Cornell applicants.
