I am an international student (Canada) who I applied for GWU regular decision. I want to study international affairs- national security as my major or politics science (second choice). I really want to know if I have a chance
I have a SAT score of 1910 (superscored two exams since I only took it twice)
NO ACT and strong strong recommendations from three academic teachers. I did not take AP courses since my school only provided IB but decided to take 2 IB courses instead. I took full pre IB ( really close to honors) courses for freshman and sophomore but it seemed to really drag my GPA down to low Bs and bare minimum As. I raised my course grades to nearly two (100%) finals on math courses and lots of high 90s for science and ENglish courses in Junior year. Senior year is flowing quite smoothly as well.
I have lots of extracurriculars including diverse areas such as internship in the UK, rigorous music background, leadership activities, two sports team and lots more.
I have one many awards as well such as top student awards and 1st place in nationals speech contest
Feel free to roughly chance me

What’s your GPA?
Your extracurriculars show diversity, true. That’s definitely a plus at GW, a school that prides itself on diversity of the student body.
You should be warned that GW is much more competitive for International Affairs and Poli Sci. What might get you in under ‘undecided’ might not work for applying directly to the Elliot School. Hopefully someone that’s currently in (or graduated from) the Elliot School can chime it. I can only speak for Columbian College, and there I would say you have a good shot (still curious about your GPA, however).
@NHuffer hii thanks for the rate:) appreciate it! I have 3.7 unweighted and 4.0 weighted
I think with those stats you’ll be in the norm of students that will apply to those programs (just my opinion, I haven’t seen admission stats) so try to make your essay really stand out. Hit on why GW is the best school for you (if you haven’t already, do your homework) and even say what you have to offer the school.
Good luck, and keep us posted!
