You’re great omg.
Probs not really really selective schools like Williams, Swarthmore, UPenn, Amherst, but I think you’re good or at least in the range for the others.
Your GPA’s decent, ECs’ fab (probably need more, and better if you get lenient towards a particular field)

Seems like I forgot to add in a little bit so here it is

School Science Fair - 1st Place
District Science Fair - Best in Division
Accepted into Windows on Williams and Taste of Clareton (yes I know it doesn’t mean much but I figured it doesn’t hurt)
Hawaii State High School Honor Band - 2 years
My High School’s “Outstanding Science Student Award”, given to two students per year
Harvard Book Award (grasping at straws here)

I’d say that you have a fair shot, if not a good shot, at all of these schools. The highest schools on your list, in terms of ranking, probably will still be a slight reach for you, but otherwise I’d say that you’re very qualified. I’m a flutist in my school’s marching band, so it’s awesome to see another musician with great credentials. Good luck to you in all of your endeavors.

I assume you have matches and safeties. Are you going through Questbridge?
If so, Williams, Carleton, and Bowdoin should probably be high on your 8-list match.
However, are you ready for the change in temperatures?
What do you call “Claremont”? Think of fit - which one would be best for you?
Congratulations on the Punahou program, impressive - and for the Williams and Carleton fly-ins.

Yes, I am applying through QuestBridge although my school has never had a QuestBridge Scholar in 8 years or so we shall see… And alafae, your thread says that you are going to be making a new thread so that’s why I am going to hold off for now “For reasons of clarity we actually asked alafae to start a new thread. S/he is perfectly OK to do this,”

After you’ve visited choose one of your two fly-ins as one of your top choices for Questbridge.
Odds are very good that if you choose one of these two in your top 3 your school will finally have a QB scholar :), although I assume you’ll choose one among HYPS to be your #1. Don’t make the common mistake of only listing Ivy League schools on your list of 8. It’s a recipe for disaster (QB shutouts do exist, and they’re all kids who should have known better than to list only top 20 national universities. I know that “I got into Williams” doesn’t have the same cachet in your HS circles as “I got into Stanford”, but it’s truly an elite, amazing education). In addition, remember that most Hawai’i kids will place CA ahead of the East Coast, due to distance, cultural shock, and weather - therefore, your lower your chances if you include too many West Coast schools.
The reply by a Mod was to artplus, who complained about alafae starting a new thread - the new thread is the one you saw.

I think my ideal school would be Williams College as I like the feel of a smaller school much more than that of a large school like UPenn or USC and the general atmosphere of Williams seems appealing to me. Thank you for the suggestion!

Will most likely get into Clareton and Pomona. Pretty confident that you will get into Amherst as well. UPenn and Johns Hopkins are the only reaches I believe.

Do you guys have any suggestions for schools that would be more safety/meet? I have a sparse list but I would like to hear other people’s opinions.
