im applying regular decision to the engineering school, any thoughts on my chances?
thanks!

I'd appreciate any comments :)

Our SAT I/ GPA/ EC's/ ACT/ Class Rank are similar.

You have legacy and I didn't, and I had research. I think you have good chances.

excellent chances

bump.......

better if you went early...legacy counts less when you do regular but i think you're probably in...if not , definitely waitlisted or guaranteed transfer.

i dont like that you havent done any math related ecs but hopefully theyll overlook that. goodluck man

You have a really good shot. You just need luck, as with any Ivy League school.

@ tommy,

isn't mu alpha theta the math honors society??? no???

hes also from texas, which will work in his favor...

REALLY good says a white male engineer former varsity cross country captain with very similar stats

I cannot say anything because many people, including myself, were deferred or rejected with decent stats and good test scores at ED...:(

I thought I would be in... But.. oh well~

dont send in ur ACT scores...

you seem really qualified, plus you're a legacy, plus you're Southern...

then again, so many excellent qualified kids got deferred ED

It's never certain; a couple of my friends with similar ECs (non-legacy) and slightly higher numbers were waitlisted last year. I still think you have a very good chance of getting in, though.

Thanks Everyone! does anyone think I should retake the SAT Physics 2 test in january since I only got a 670 on it? I am, after all, applying to mechanical engineering, so maybe that would be worth it? I know i could get a 700-750 if i studied and took it again

it might be good to retake it if you're definitely going to get higher. when you get into the groups of people with high stats and well-focused ec's like you have, it really is a crapshoot. everyone from that pool has a good chance of getting in, but they can't take everyone. take a look at the old ed and rd acceptance threads from last year and this year to compare yourself. you can't base everything on those threads, but they will definitely give you a better idea than anything i or anyone else here can tell you.

wow there's a lot of xc captain peeps with similar stats.
as am I, but about a sixty point lower SAT
