I am an out of state student. GPA: 3.77 with higher level classes including 3 IB classes and the rest honors. Sat:1690 not super scored. CR:640 Math:440 Writing:610. I know these are all below average but I am hoping my very strong extra curriculars make up for it? Among them are involvement in two sports all four years of high school, and lots of volunteer and community service/clubs in the field I am interested in (environmental science). I have done a leadership program for three years and last summer was in an STEM summer program that will definitely stand out. Essays are hopefully good. I am visiting the schools in late January, will this help at all and will I be able to meet with admissions? Thanks a ton.
if instate I’d say it does depend on your essays and LoR’s. since oos you will have a hard time in admissions, but not impossible.
Good chance. My friend had similar stats and got in but with a higher sat. Chance me back please!
UC’s are very GPA focused. Your test scores are also 100-200 points below average for these schools especially your SAT Math score. As an OOS applicant, your stats need to be at or above the averages for the best chances.
You have a good chance at UCSC, but UCD and UCSB will be tough. Essays and EC’s can have a positive impact but too difficult to determine how much. Only UCSB considers level of interest but not an integral part of the admissions process so visiting will not have much of an impact other than to determine the best fit if accepted.
Good Luck.
