bump…

so many views, yet not one reply? sorry for the triple post but ive been stressin out. Edit, i added more specifics

you are going to need to raise your SAT to about a 2100 to have a chance at most of these:

-Rutgers University: ??
-The College of New Jersey: ??
-Rutgers Pharmacy Program: ??
-Boston College: Reach
-Boston University: Match
-Tufts University: ??
-Columbia University: Big Reach
-New York University: Reach
-Cornell University: Big Reach
-Brown University: Big Reach
-Johns Hopkins University: Reach
-University of Maryland: You’ll get in
-University Of Pennsylvania (Will Early decision help a lot): Big Reach (ED will help, especially if legacy)
-University of Michigan: Reach
-University of Delaware: You’ll get in
-University of Virginia: Reach

Your EC’s are very good, just need to get your test score up. best of luck

Thank you!
I am not a legacy, but U-penn is my dream school.

no problem i hope you get in. i am legacy and i applied RD this year. so we’ll see what happens there

Why not ED? word is that legacy and ED help a lot.

If you can get that 2100+, your chances will significantly increase. Although you don’t really have a “hook”, your ECs are good. Ivies are always reaches, but I’d suggest UMich as a match.

You might have a chance.

onerepublic4, i didn’t do ED because i aplied ED to Duke. unfortunately, i got rejected there. i probably should’ve done ED to Penn. i think with the help of my legacy i would have had a great shot there

Have you talked over your college selections with your GC? Although your grades seem alright, it appears that your high school may lack the rigor needed to make that GPA and rank reliable to an adcom. Except for volunteer work and NHS, you basically have no EC’s and coupled with an 1800 SAT score, I cant see any schools on your list that would be even close to a match for you except perhaps New Jersey and Deleware.

Because of you higher GPA and rank, it might make sense for you to consider applying to the Liberal Arts Colleges that offer a no SAT or ACT enrollment option. Your ap may look more attractive to these schools and some are elite institutions. You can look/ask in the LAC sub-forum for which schools.

Well you are…average. I mean with your extremely lengthy list of schools your bound to be a match on a couple of those, some will be a reach. Obviously the SAT isnt too pretty - try to get it up to an 1850 at least, which is getting above average. For the schools your looking for a 1900 seems to be what you are striving for, but writing is generally the easiest. Its hard to improve on the writing since you have complete control over that score every time. So unless you were drunk or high the first time you took the SAT, its not going to be that easy to just improve your writing over a couple of months. But Ill chance you

-Rutgers University - Match
-The College of New Jersey - Match
-Rutgers Pharmacy Program - Match

  • Boston College - Reach
    Boston University - Match
    Tufts - Reach

New York:
-Columbia University - High Reach
-New York University - High Reach
-Cornell University - High Reach

Rhode Island:
-Brown University - High Reach

Maryland:
-Johns Hopkins University - Reach
-University of Maryland - Match

Pennsylvania:
-University Of Pennsylvania (Will Early decision help a lot) - Dont even try

Michigan:
-University of Michigan - Reach

Delaware:
-University of Delaware - Match

Virginia:
-University of Virginia - Match to low Reach

I mean not trying to be negative, but an 1800 SAT is honestly the average of my school’s, and just about 50 points higher than the national average of public schools that meet minimum requirement scores. And you’re talking about these top 20 schools like Upenn, JHU, Brown, Cornell?

People with 2400s and 4.0 get rejected from there - I see nothing about an 1800 that would even get you considered…

I don’t know about most of the schools you are applying to, but for those I do know about:

Cornell: High Reach
JHU: Reach/High Reach
Columbia: High Reach
UPenn ED: High Reach
Brown: Reach

However, if you improve your SAT scores, then this can change drastically.

I’m a little confused, where are you getting the idea that my hs lacks rigor? because of my low SAT score? it was my first time and i wanted to see how i could do winging it. ive been studying and have been getting 2000+ on the practice ones so i think im okay on that route.

Sorry for the double post, but anyone want to give me ideas of things i could do this summer that would help? Im applying to Harvard SSP, and a resarch program regarding Neuroscience… i heard ssp doesnt help, so im leaning towards the neuro research… any other ideas?

Everything looks good, but that 1800 is going to get you rejected at the top schools. Get your SATs to 2250+ and you’ll do great! Good Luck.

Please chance me
