What’s your rank? Are you international? Do you need aid?

I am at a school in Virginia that doesn’t rank but I think top 5-10%. I totally need fin. aid!

HYMP are high reaches. There’s nothing extraordinary about your application… your CR score is relatively low, your SAT IIs are fine - though not phenomenal, your ECs are decent, and your class rank is low for HYMP.

My SAT score is the same as you except 40 points lower in the writing and 10 points higher than you on the reading (:

I think the Ivies and MIT are significant reaches.

I think you’ll get into BC, the UCs and maybe Penn with a bit higher CR score and great application as long as you’re a citizen or PR.

If you need aid, forget the UCs though, zero other than the Federal for OOS students this year.

“My SAT score is the same as you except 40 points lower in the writing and 10 points higher than you on the reading (:”

I’m a little confused…You’re comparing your scores with the OP and not his scores…

What is OP?

Stop rubbing my low writing score in. ): There’s a reason why it’s only a 730, lol.

Left a “rs” off from the end of the “you”. Lol.

What do applications that are accepted into HYMP have?

OP = original post/original poster.

GENERALLY, you’d be in pretty good shape if you have a 3.9+ UW, top 5%+, 2300+, and extracurriculars where you’ve achieved national or international recognition.

Guess I don’t have a chance at the Ivies anymore, better start focusing on what I thought were safety schools like Boston, NYU, Emory, UCD, tufts, amherst, and oregon state. ):

I’d call Amherst a significant reach with a sub 700 SAT score.

Hey, by all means, give it a shot if you’re interested in going there - don’t let the common statistics discourage you from applying. If you’re essays are amazing, they may very well tip you into the “accepted” pile.

Just wondering, what is your ethnicity and state? It can have a pretty big impact on your application for the Ivies.

I’m a female Indian( south Asia) living in Virginia. Probably will only make it harder for me to get in.

“SAT I: 2230
Math 790
Writing 770
CR 680 ( taking SAT again to raise this score next week)”

am i missing something or is 790+770+680 = 2240?

OPPS! SAT I 2240, my adding reinforces why I got a 790 and not a 800 in math.

Bumpppppppppppppppppppppppppp
