Side Note: I am only worried about my classes this year. I have all A's, B in Physics but in Calculus I may end up with a C this semester. Will that Senior grade negatively affect me in the admissions process?

Thank you in advance! :)

If possible, take the ACT again and raise it to a 28 or 29. Right now, UW is a high match (MAYBE a low reach) b/c of your ACT. The C will not negatively affect you in the admissions process, as they do not look at grades until after acceptance. Definitely emphasize your cultural awareness and diversity in the essays. If your essays are great, you should have no trouble being accepted.

Thank you for your time to review this!

I have a question though. I talked to my college planner at the highschool and she said that UW will ask for a 1st Semester (Feb) and final transcript. How sure are you that the senior year grades will not be seen outside of the admissions process? No offense to you, I am just curious to know if you can fully explain the “process” that happens. Also, it looks like I cannot keep up with AP Calc like I thought I would. I may get a D and will transfer to pre calc to get an A. I will explain the situation in the optional writing portion. Will they reject because of 1 D or are they looking to reject students who bomb senior year completely? Thank you!

One D will not get you rescinded. More than one, however, will probably result in being rescinded. From the UW website regarding transcripts/mid year report:

"Do not send transcripts until you receive a request from the Office of Admissions. The application asks you to tell us about your academic coursework in detail.

All applicants who are admitted and who confirm their intention to enroll at the UW will be required to send a final high school transcript as soon as completed work and high school graduation is recorded on the transcript(s), but no later than July (September 1 for applicants completing coursework during the summer). The Admissions staff will verify that all admission requirements have been satisfied, and the offer of admission will be withdrawn if important discrepancies are discovered."

I see now, thanks. Do you happen to know if applications are reviewed upon first sent, first reviewed?

No. They discontinued the rolling admissions process starting with Fall 2011 applicants (us). You will hear back at the same time as everyone else (March 15-31). It may be beneficial to wait until the last couple days to submit your app if you feel you need more time to truly express your personality in the essays.

They may review earlier applications earlier. They just won’t send you a decision. If admissions officers wait until the deadline to JUST start viewing applications, I feel like it would be a lot more stressful for them, especially since the applicant count has been trending upwards in the past few years.

However, submit the latest you want if you feel like you can strengthen your essays a lot using the extra time. A later submission but stronger essays will give you an edge as compared to an early submission but horrible essays.
