Thanks for your time!

I seriously think you are Smith material.
(I’m an accepted 2015er)

Only time can tell, but do not lose sleep over this. Breathe and focus on youre schoolwork

Thanks for taking the time to post your opinion Brittany!
I’m actually really worried about not being accepted anywhere at all! I’ve not applied to any safeties since I have some in my country but I wish to do undergraduate studies in the states only.
Thanks again and I hope I get the chance to meet you on campus come fall!
Btw, I hope you chanced me keeping in mind that I shall be requiring full aid.

Oh and I forgot to mention this, I’ve applied as a Math major. Their math department is sooo cool.

GarfieldGirl, I think you have a strong application. Whether or not you receive financial aid is another issue and it’s impossible to gauge for an international student. You’ve done your best in submitting your application and now you need to let go and let the process unfold. I’m sure there will be more than one excellent school which will be happy to accept you. Enjoy this respite (for you, not the admissions offices of all the schools!) and enjoy this part of your senior year. Come spring, you will be sorting out your acceptances and the financial aid packages, but in the meantime, try to enjoy the freedom of not having to do anything more right now!

You are so very welcome! I wish the best for you!
You seem incredibly intelligent and it would be a shame if Smith did not accept you.

I want to major in Physics, so we kind of have similar interests.

CarolynB: Thank you for taking the time to post your opinion! I am very grateful. It’s really nice to know what people who know more about the admissions process think!
And haha, we have final exams (which are national) here in less than a month, so there’s little enjoyment going on atm! But it’s nice to know that I’ll be getting to know the college decisions soon after they end (in fact, a week after my exams).

Brittany: thank you for the compliment! Smith really does seem like a wonderful place and everyone belonging to the Smith community whom I have met or corresponded with till now have been simply amazing individuals (and super nice too)!
Btw, I have indicated Physics as my second interest. The adcoms I met when they visited Delhi (in India) really stressed on the developments taking place in the Science departments too. However, I intend to utilise the open curriculum a lot, mess around with different/unconventional subjects a bit and only then settle down about my major.

^Why do I think that I have seen you before? o.O

Alter-ego anyone?

^Mainly to avoid stalkers like you. weary smile
I know exactly what gave me away and it’s not this thread.
I like knowing people aren’t stalking my posts once in a while.

Good luck on your national exams! It is a good thing to be focused on them and then you’ll hear from the colleges soon after that!

^^smiles back

First time ever I visited this place. I don’t stalk you any longer don’t worry. Good luck. Smith forum appears to be supportive enough :)

You seem like a pretty strong candidate so I don’t see why you wouldn’t get in. Good luck! (I got in ED, maybe we’ll meet this fall)

CarolynB: Thank you! It’s difficult at times but I do try to keep my mind off the admissions process now.

IFoundICouldFly: thanks for posting your opinion! I hope I get the opportunity to meet you on campus too! :D

Ha, rest easy GarfieldGirl, your in. trust me.

~current smith student

Thank you for the encouragement MaybeLater!
Likely letters have gone out and it doesn’t seem like I’m getting one. :frowning: Making me a bit worried! Or are they not given to intl’s?
I just met parents of the two students currently at Smith (they were the ones who introduced me to smith in the first place, the parents i mean). They were raving about smith as usual :D

The letters that went out last week were not “likely” letters, but early acceptance letters to particularly strong candidates. I’m sure some “likely” candidates who did not receive early admission – so don’t be too discouraged.

thank you for the reassurance nyc! Although i’m glad for the early acceptees, i wish such a thing didn’t exist! It throws the rest of the ‘normal’ applicants into such a tizzy!

You (and other RD applicants) needn’t feel bruised, nor go crazy. In every pool, there are some incred strong applicants, and colleges court them one way (merit scholarships) or another (“likely” letters, early admission, etc.). Yes, it’s a real ego boost, but they represent only a small fraction of the successful applicants. And as one moves from hs to college (particularly a competitive colege) one is likely to be a smaller fish in a bigger pond.

Good luck.

In case anyone looking at old threads later on, I got accepted!
Thanks for your support everyone!
