right now I am a rising senior with a 2230 sat (750 CR 700 M 780 W) 720 in US history, 740 math II, and 31 ACT (29 E 34 M 30 R 31 S). I have a 4.3 gpa (around 3.9 uw) and I am ranked 4th of 188). I am involved in many activities in school, I am in select choir, baseball, basketball, peer leaders, leadership club, etc. I am the president of NHS, vp of SNHS, leader in choir, and president of leadership group. I also volunteer often. I was also 1 of 6 selected in NJ to attend the national student leadership conf in Indianapolis and just recently attended boys state. I have not won major national awards, but I think I am very well rounded and am passionate about what I do. So, what are my chances for Duke? I love the school so much and I'm applying early decision. Thanks for the help!

Academically you have a great shot. When you say, " I volunteer often". What do you mean? Selective colleges like Duke, rather see you dedicate your place to a couple of places that you are passionate about, than volunteer for a short time at several places. Work on you essay, Duke admission rate is like 16%!

The last 4 years I’ve volunteered at an elementary school basketball camp, I’ve tutored Spanish and I work with the booster club. I just like doing things where I can work with and help other people

Well then you should have a good shot!

You definitely have a good shot! It would help to retake the SAT and ACT if you think you can bring up your scores. Don’t get me wrong; they’re very good, but it can only help to raise them. Then of course make sure all the subjective stuff is on point. Good luck!

thanks guys!

any other opinions?
