Please chance me

I’m a senior looking to apply to Brown in the fall. I’m from an extremely competitive Catholic high school in Michigan. It looks really cool and I’m going to visit in the fall.

Let me know what you think.

STATS:

GPA: 3.94W (upward trend) (Our grading scale is slightly tougher than public schools)

RANK: 27/153

ACT: 31 with a 10 on writing, will be taking it again this fall

SAT: Never took it. Should I?

EXTRA CIRCULARS:

4 years of cross country (hopefully captain senior year)
4 (all varsity) years of lacrosse (captain for senior year)
2 (varsity) years of skiing (Rookie of the year freshmen year then most improved my sophomore year)
Volunteer all the time at a local hospital and around the city
Yearbook Editor (this will be my third year)
Core Team Member (we are solely in charge of planning the senior 3 day retreat)
National Honors Society Member
French Club
National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine and on Collegiate Success
Tutor in several subjects

Lots of honors classes so far and senior year I’m taking AP Econ, AP Calc, AP Bio, and Honors French 4

We are not allowed to take AP classes until our junior year

State: Michigan
School type: Private (Catholic)
Gender: Male

No Legacy there (Mom went to Michigan Tech and Dad went to Northern Michigan(for undergrad))

And I’m white if that matters for anything.

Could I get accepted? (Assuming I write awesome essays and get great recommendations?)

I think you should apply if Brown is really where you want to go! There are a lot of supplemental essays to write so you need to know why you want to go and what you’d add to the school population! Good luck! =)

Most of us refuse on principle to give chances, but…one thing that doesn’t come through in your list here at all, and which Brown considers immensely, is why is Brown right for you, and why are you right for Brown. Be sure to focus heavily on that.

There’s no difference between submitting the SAT or ACT. You could take the SAT if you feel a reasoning test would be better for you.

I would definitely consider taking the SAT. GPA sounds good, ECs sound good, sports will help, but ranking is a little low (then again, if it’s a super competitive school, not a huge deal). Like Uroogla said, I don’t really see Brown in your app. What do you want to major in/look at? Also, please visit. It makes a huge, huge difference. I didn’t know I even liked Brown or wanted to consider an Ivy League school until I visited and fell in love with it.
Chance me back?
