Marist is my top choice. I'm so stressed out with all this college stuff!
Thanks in advance!

I’m not an expert, so don’t consider only my opinion. But I do think you have a good chance if you do Early Decision, I think your stats are a tad low for most of the scholarships they offer in regular admission, so if you’re ok with that, you should seriously consider ED.(I’m not sure what if any they offer in ED) My son is a sophomore, and came in with all AP/Honors classes, 96 GPA, and tons of EC, and received a $8k scholarship. (max is I think $12k) He had 32 on ACT.
Are you a senior in HS now? Are you going to take another SAT?
I wish you luck, don’t stress, you will survive this! I hope you get into Marist, its a great school. My son is very happy there, and he was still deciding between 2 schools the day admission $$ was due :)

There is no exact strict numbers they look at. My son had friends with lower stats that were accepted and depends on the program/school you apply to.
IE:
Studt 1- GPA 90, SAT 1210, varsity sport, 100 hrs comm service. Communications, Early Action. ACCEPTED.
Studt 2- GPA 85, SAT 1130, varsity sport, 120 hrs comm service. Communications, EARLY DECISION. ACCEPTED.
Studt 3- GPA 93, SAT 1230, 2 var. sports, 200 hrs comm service. Business, Early Action. WAIT LISTED
Studt 4- GPA 95, SAT 1280, varsity sport, 150 hrs comm service. Education. WAIT LISTED.

your GPA and SAT are not enough here, but you have AP and H classes and lots of EC’s. My recommendation
is on the fence if EA, highly likely if ED. Recommend ED - ONLY IF YOU ARE 100% commited to attending.

Sportsman, at the info session the admissions counselor went out of his way to say that they do not admit to a major but to the school, and the standards did not vary between majors as student can freely change majors. Sounds like that might not be entirely correct. My son is somewhat undecided about major, but Marist is currently his first choice. I wonder if he should by applying as undecided rather than as a Computer Science major? He is considering ED, but I can’t completely support that for various reasons.

@EdieNJ No, you are correct, you apply to Marist, not a specific school, and you can declare or not, its doesnt make a difference, You have to declare a major by end of Sophomore year. Consider ED only if Marist is your sons #1, and he will go there if accepted. My daughter did that at her school, but she was determined to go there. We still got a good financial pkg on our $$. Marist gives scholarships depending on your qualifications, and they are given without asking or applying. I am not sure if EA and ED students get them as well, but I am pretty sure they do. I also think $12K is the max they offer. Marist ws one of several my son was considering, and he went right down to the wire deciding (like the day $$ was due). And he has not regretted his decision for one minute. He is very happy there, and has a great group of like friends. Good Luck!
