Please chance me!

Currently a junior,

SAT 2340, still working on SAT IIs

Weak grades: 1 B+ freshman year, 1 B+ soph, and a B+ junior year, which I know is the most important year :(

My B's in soph and jr year were both in chem, which is by far my weakest subject. I'm not majoring in science, so if I make that clear on my app, will this be looked upon more favorably by colleges?

I'm taking a fairly rigorous courseload- I plan to take 11 APs by senior year, so I still have a high GPA, even with the B's.

My extracurriculars are pretty good. Nothing amazing, but I am involved with the community (~700 community service by senior year) and have quite a few leadership roles.

If I have good essays and decent recs, what are my my chances of getting into UCs, lower range Ivies, and good lib arts colleges?

I'm mostly worried that I have so many B's that I won't be considered for many higher tiered schools...

Answers and advice greatly appreciated. Happy holidays everyone!

Forgot to mention I’m Asian (yay…) and I don’t have any hooks.

someone please respond! desperate and starting to panic here…

Relax! You’re a junior, there’ll be plenty of time next year to stress about college- which is what I’m currently doing haha. Okay, I’m just going to say it: GRADES ARE NOT EVERYTHING. I’ve gotten 4 Bs and got into the only school I’ve heard back from so far (UMichigan) and my brother got into MIT early without all As. Our low grades were in subjects that we have no interest in pursuing after high school. If you got good grades in the subjects you want to focus on in college, then I don’t think you have anything to worry about. No matter how competitive admission for a school is, they look at more than your grades. You have a great SAT score and that should help. Also, I’d suggest taking the SATIIs in subjects that relate to something you may want to major in. Try to focus more on developing an EC you’re really passionate about and learning more about schools you want to apply to so that you can sincerely talk about why you want to go there when you’re writing supplements next year.

And finally, take a deep breath. And I’d suggest leaving college confidential… at least for now. You really don’t have anything to worry about and being on here is probably just going to unnecessarily stress you out since everyone else on here is currently freaking out.
