Thanks, guys.

Carnegie Mellon Match/Low reach
UVa Match/Low reach
VTech Match/in
GTech Match
UMich, Match
Vanderbilt Low-mid reach
UCBerkeley Mid reach
UCLA Low reach
UCSan Diego Not sure
VCU Not sure
Duke High reach
Case Western Not sure

When I say “Not sure” I mean I don’t know too much about those schools in terms of selectivity.

Whoaa, that’s pretty cool that you’re Egyptian!!

For VCU, I would say you’re in!

*4.8 w/o freshman year

Also for MIT. Thanks for those who have provided their $.02.

Bump.10char

You seem like a really good match for all the schools you listed in your original post.
The weakest point is probably your math GPA, but you have lots of impressive science ECs plus a couple sports which makes you seem well rounded, but still focused. I wouldn’t worry too much, just write really good essays.

me?

bumppppppppppppppp.

Given the grave circumstances with which I am encumbered with, and the subsequent state of disassociation I am suspended within, could someone please give me some honest answers; maybe even suggestions (I have more than 1 yr. left of HS)? Thanks.

Carnegie Mellon: Reach
VTech: Match
GTech: Match
UMich: Low reach
Vanderbilt: Low reach
UCBerkeley: Reach
UCLA: Low Reach
Duke: High Reach

Your gpa and rank are what’s killing you… Other than that, your app is great

You are not an underrepresented minority by the definition US colleges use to give a boost.

What state are you from? Is money an issue?

I was not aware that ‘Egyptian’ ethnicity does not qualify the “URM” definition. Money will probably be of concern, also. My father will be retiring soon, and with my sister attending a particularly expensive school next year, we will be needing aide. Anyhow, what do these things entail. Again, any opinions; suggestions?

Bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmp.

I think it’s very cool that you’re the CEO of your own company! How did you start it?

Bummmmmmmmmmp.

URM=black, native American, Hispanic at US colleges.

Your list is not a good one if you need aid. OOS publics like the UCs and Michigan give almost no aid to OOS students and your stats are too low for the schools that give good need based aid. I think you’ll get into Vtech, VCU, Case, and GTech, but not with much money.

Thank you very much. Although my gpa will probably stay the same, is there anything I can do with one year left to compensate? I know there is no ‘magic formula’ per se, and admissions to college is subjective, yet, any suggestions? More chances, please? I will chance back myself.

There’s the obvious: get your scores as high as you can, grades too, spend your summer productively, add a couple of college classes that you do well in if you live near a college…

The most important thing is to figure out finances and then choose schools. See if you qualify for need based aid by running calculators. If you do, look at schools they meet 100% of need. If not, look for places where you might get merit aid. Lots of threads on that here.

I recently got my new class rank evaluation from the counseling off. My percentile is now >91%, putting me at least in the top 10% of my class. Previously, I had indicated on the thread that my rank was an abysmal 15-20% (~82 percentile). Does this at all change the scope? Thanks so much; (I do not know why I forgot to put this up, as I have had this for almost a week now.)

Also, my senior year will feature the following courseload:

AP: English 12 Lit.; Calculus; Physics; Chemistry
Honors: 3 including two Engineering courses offered (Biomedical Engineering and Advanced Engineering)

With my new class rank, (please refer to post immediately above), do my lucky stars realign to any extent?

Hello? Bummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmp.
Oh…also my ‘company’ neither sells a product nor owns patents (pending); but rather is a research conglomerate looking to license. So should I even include this on my applications?
