Please chance me

I'm considering applying to Rutgers Pharmacy. I'm a junior right now, female, Asian, and am attending an in-state public school that is listed top 5.

I'm taking AP Chem, AP Calc BC, and AP Language & Composition, and will be taking AP Bio, AP Psych, AP Stats, and an AP foreign language in senior year.

My cumulative GPA thus far is 4.12 (definitely in top 15%, but school doesn't rank).

I haven't taken the SATs yet, but I'm aiming between 2150~2200 in the March test. I took SAT 2 Bio (720) and Math IIC (800).

I know extracurricular activities, special awards, and volunteering aren't put into much consideration compared to GPA and SAT. But I hold a position in one of the afterschool club, played basketball before, and have 100+ hours of volunteering.

Please chance me! And if you have suggestions, please write them down as well!

Hi! I got into the Pharm Program this year. Still not sure if I will go, since I’m out of state.
My stats are not as great as yours but my extracurriculars and essay made up for it.

You will get in. I guarantee it.
HUGE TIP: APPLY EARLY. No it doesn’t mean a week before the deadline.
Apply a month earlier than the early deadline next year, and I will guarantee you will get in.

My advice: apply early, at least October. You will get an admission decision quicker than applying later. We did not hear scholarship information until mid-December, and honors notifications until February.

Thanks everyone for the suggestion. I’ve heard previously that submitting the apps earlier is better, but I didn’t know that was true.

Do you think a 2150 is okay enough, because I know some people personally who didn’t get in with a 2150, which I thought was a good score.

2150 is a good score. How were the GPAs? I have often seen students with great SAT scores and meh GPAs.

I don’t remember specifically what his GPA was but it wasn’t outrageously bad nor good.

Oh and also, do you think it’s wise for me to take SAT 2 Chem? Thanks in advance!

I think you have a good chance. I was accepted this year with similar stats (4.0, 7 APs, leadership positions).

If you are aiming for a scholarship, though, there are certain SAT cut-offs (2250 for Presidential, 1950 for Scarlet) that you might want to look into:
[Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/costs/scholarships/firstyearscholarships.aspx)

Presidential is nearly full-tuition for in-staters. No teacher recommendations are required for the app, but I think they place a heavy emphasis on the essay as well!

Thanks. I really hope I can get in even though I still have months before I start my apps!

I don’t think I can get 2250+ so I guess there goes my scholarship. :P

The 2250 is not absolute. I think they look more at the M and CR than the total number. Posters have commented that they got a Presidential with an under 2250 SAT score (and my son did, as well).

hkim sign up for the College Board’s SAT question of the day and do them every day. Also get some practice SAT books and take the tests under timed conditions. I like the eprep website for SAT essay help. Watch all the Karl Schellscheidt videos on that site (won’t let me link). Also try to take the test late in junior year and early in your senior year. Make sure you sign up for the fall test early because it will fill up. (Start looking in August)

Darnit, still no scholarship then because my reading score’s bad.
I have the blue book and am using it right now.
And thanks for the suggestions!

your profile looks iffy if you want the scholarship you need to increase sat
