Please chance me!

I'm applying to Lehigh University's business program regular decision. Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.94 unweighted
SATs: 2050
Class rank: 14/368
Extra curricular:
Cross country, 4 years
Spring track, 4 years
President of SADD (Soph, Jr. + Sr.)
Vice President of German (Jr. + Sr.)
Volunteer at local hospital
Interact club (30+ hrs community service)
Other clubs
Work at local ice cream shop

I am not familiar with the acceptance rates of the individual programs, but I will compare you to the general applicant.

Anyway, your GPA is obviously fantastic. It’s .06 from perfect (assuming your school goes up to 4.0 and not 4.33 or 5.0?) so you have everything to gain from this aspect. However, you didn’t mention what kind of classes you’re taking - if you have a 3.96 in all or mostly all honors and AP (or IB) classes you’re fine. However, if you took all CP classes or just a handful of honors, you may need to shine in another area.

Your SAT is above the 50th percentile so you’re fine.

Your class rank of course is great! Again, though, this is all contingent on the level of classes you took. If you didn’t take AP or honors, being ranked in the top 5% doesn’t mean as much as an honors student in the next tier of rankings.

Your extracurriculars look great. Assuming you have good leadership roles (such as in SADD and German (Club?)), Lehigh will definitely look upon this section favorably, too. Write a good EC essay!

Overall, I’d say, while you didn’t provide me with enough information to make a MORE educated guess (I say “more educated” because even if I had your entire folder I could only guess as to your chances), that you have above average chances of getting into Lehigh.

Best of luck! Hopefully we’ll both get in!

Thanks for the response, and yes my GPA is out of 4.0. I’ve taken AP European History, AP Chemistry, AP American History, AP English, AP Psychology, and this year I’m taking AP Physics, AP English, AP Gov, AP Macro, and AP Calculus so 10 AP’s total.

I’m just really nervous about getting in because this kid last year went to Lehigh and he was literally a genius and even he was skeptical about getting in.

Is Lehigh your first choice? Even so, if I were you I wouldn’t be so nervous. You definitely have better stats than the average accepted student (your stats actually look quite similar to mine! I have a SAT score that’s a little higher but a GPA that’s a little lower and I also took 10 APs, etc. etc.). To be honest, though, I’m nervous about getting in but I am fully aware that I am more nervous than I should be!

Just keep showing interest in Lehigh and you should be fine.

Yeah it is my first choice my others are Wake Forest and UVA. Thanks, yeah I’m probably more nervous that I should be

Have you visited campus yet collegequestion9? Interviews? Emails with admissions?

Showing interest, as Lehigh2017 describes, is the key to getting accepted. Make sure you’ve taken a tour with admissions and that you’ve done as much as you can to show your desire to go to Lehigh.

Best,
