I'm really interested in this school. Currently deferred. Anyone want to predict my chances? I applied to LSA undecided but I think I may mention somewhere in my app that I intend to be a communications major.

If you have time, explain why you think I may or may not get in.

Stats:
Female/White/California Resident/Attending rigorous, small private school w/limited honors & APs
GPA: 3.67 unweighted, 3.8 weighed (On a scale of 0-4)

Currently taking Spanish 5 & at the Calculus math level

Recommendations from 11th grade English and Spanish teachers. I think the English teachers one was probably pretty good, Spanish teachers ok.

My school has a history of good acceptance at UMich. About 50-60% of applicants get in. But, according to Naviance, a student who applied EA got deferred and was given a wait list position but never got in.

I would be happy to chance anyone back!! Thanks!

Your GPA is below admission average while your SAT is 50pt below 25% (no superscoring). It would be a very very high match to low reach for in state LSA.

UM uses a holistic process for admissions. We cannot know the quality of essays and recommendations.

They look at GPA, unweighted, course rigor, tests ( not super scores ), recommendations, essays and extracurriculars.

In general, you can look at threads from previous years of admissions results, and see where you fall amongst those applicants. Sometimes, you can get a good feel that way.

USC and UM have very similar admission profiles. There are other numbers that play into both schools, and there’s no need to have a further conversation.

I’ll leave it at that, because to say more starts a detraction from the OP.

( but thank you for the attempt at an unneeded stats lesson. )
