PLEASE CHANCE ME

I am a Senior in high school and will be beginning to apply for colleges later this month. I currently have a cummulative GPA of 3.25 and an ACT score of 21. I have been in Honors and AP English classes since 9th grade, and was a member of Key Club (a community service type club) my Sophomore year, and this year I am a member of the Junior Classical League (JCL).

For my instate schools (Louisiana), I am interested in Northwestern State University, University of Louisiana Lafayette, and the University of New Orleans. These schools aren't very large schools, so you may have not heard of them, but please look into them so that you can help me determine my chances.

As for out of state schools, I am interested in the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the University of Texas El Paso.

Please chance me, and thanks in advance.

Also, as a sort of side question, what can I do to lower the cost of tuition should I go to school in Texas?

You’re a match at all three in-state. If you can retake that ACT you may have a shot at merit at UNO.

If you want to go to school in Texas, unless there are agreements between LA and TX (and, as far as I know, there aren’t), you have to be ready to pay full OOS costs, ie. about 40K, with NO scholarships. Remember that you, as a freshman, can only take on $5,500 in loans. Therefore, if you want to attend a school in Texas, look into St Edward’s, Austin College, Southwestern, University of Houston… which would all be matches for your stats.
