Recs are good. I attended a campus tour, an on-campus information session, an off-campus information session, and had an on-campus interview.

Essays: wrote my common app essay about debate, still working on supplements. Do y'all think I could get in regular decision?

My main fear is the disconnect between my high school ECs and my prospective major. I didn't really do much engineering/computer science stuff in high school. Do you think that will affect me really negatively?

Congratulations on your test scores and accomplishments. I think your odds of getting in are very good. You’re right that your college major is different than your high school interests, but maybe there is a way to tie everything together in your essays. Your test scores show that you are good at everything. I think you’ll get in, but if there is something that is working slightly against you, its geography. Rice has more than its share of Houston applicants. I still think you would be near the top of the Houston applicant pool.

Your stats are good and put you well within the range to get in. I don’t think it will hurt to switch paths in any way - your SAT and SATII scores and GPA are excellent and help demonstrate your capability in the sciences. You could use your essays to describe your interest in CS and stuff as well.

@Sciencegirlmom - While it is more difficult to get in as a Houston resident, that is more a function of number of applicants than anything else. It shouldn’t factor in this case (IMO)

bump–Please give me y’alls opinions! Thanks!
