I’ll be applying to schools soon and wondering where I have a chance of getting in.
GPA: unweighted - 3.85
SAT: 1920
ACT: 30
APs already taken: APUSH 4, Stats 3, World History 4, Language 4. Psych 4
Aps taking next year: Literature, Calculus, Micro, Macro
ECs - just elected Treasurer of NHS and I started a service club at my school this past year (probably has about 60 members). I have also played the violin for 7 years (through school) and I work 20 hours a week at a Panera Bread.
What are my chances for:
University of Miami (FL):
UT Austin:
University of Florida:
Georgia Tech:
Boston College:
For UT Austin, you would need a good rank. UT Austin cares mostly about rank. Also, they prefer in-state applicants more than out-of-state. Most of their school is filled with the auto-admission students so there is very little room for out-of-state applicants. Also, I would say that for University of Miami and University of Florida, you have a very good chance. For Boston College and Georgia Tech, it’s more difficult. You may want to reconsider improving your SAT score over the summer just a little bit for more assurance of making all of these schools.
Overall, I’d say you are a strong applicant and you can make at least 2 of these schools with your current statistics.
For UT Austin, a top 7% rank is important only for in state students. If OP is from OOS, scores are likely too low for admission anyway disregarding the class rank.
