I am a rising senior planning on applying to UNC. The plan would be to be later admitted into Kenan-Flagler and to study a sort of international business.

Based on your SAT scores (not your ACT), I think that you would be competitive; although I don’t know how your homeschooled GPA would translate. Any NMF status won’t hurt (although UNC gets lots of NMF applicants). Emphasize your ECs that show passion and (preferably) leadership ability, not just membership; you don’t need more ECs, just focus on the ones that you are already involved in. Work hard on your essays, as well.
If you are interested in international business, you might also consider the University of South Carolina, which has a very highly rated international business program: http://moore.sc.edu/academicprograms/undergraduate/majorsoffered/internationalbusiness.aspx. With your statistics, you likely would have a better chance of getting merit aid at USC as opposed to UNC (if that would be a consideration), as well as admission to USC’s Honors College. Just a thought.
