What school are you applying to? Also what’s your UC weighted capped GPA?

I got rejected haha, but I’m filing for an appeal. I applied to Letters and Sciences and according to the GPA it’s a 4.2? If anyone can tell me visible weaknesses within my stats that would be awesome because having a third eye look at my application will probably allow me to address the proper things in my appeal!

UCLA does not want a rehash for your application. They want you address any new and compelling information not originally presented in your application.

From the website:
** UCLA does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Therefore, though all appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, the number of decisions reversed on appeal is very low. We advise you to consider the following carefully before you decide to draft an appeal. Every application has gone through an extensive reviews. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit it must bring to light new academic and personal information, as well as information pertaining to extenuating circumstances, that had not been present in the application—information that clearly shows the student to be stronger than had been earlier evidenced. High grades received in the senior year, recently acquired awards, or an increase in activities are not a basis for the reversal of a decision.

@Gumbymom So I shouldn’t bring up weak points and why they may have been that way? I overviewed but didn’t go into detail about my family situation, including an illness and disability in my application because I was told that detailing family financial disabilities and illnesses would deviate from the effectiveness of my application, however I feel like I should expand on my situation because it is such a big portion to my life. I have all the supporting documentation and I want to file the appeal so that I know I did everything possible…

It is fine to expand upon your family situation with supporting documentation, but you do not want focus on the weak points of your application. You want show that you have were able to excel despite these issues.

@Gumbymom thank you so much! I appreciate and am thankful for your response!
