is anyone there?

You posted a nearly-idential thread earlier today. I wrote this then:

"Your SATs are low for most schools on your list. Can you retake them? Being a legacy at Tufts could help, but only 30% of legacy applicants got in this year; which is just 6% more than the acceptance rate for the entire applicant pool."

I would add now: even if your class doesn't rank, does it not give something to the effect of "top 10%", "top 5%", etc?

Also, what do you want to study? Do you have any idea?

Probably around 20%; I go to an elite private school. I am thinking about studying neuroscience or economics.

Thanks for your help.

Well, even if your school doesn't rank they are required to give an idea of how you do compared to your classmates. That may either be showing individual classes' grade ranges (ie, lowest grade a D, highest grade an A+, average a B, etc.) so the universities you apply to will have an idea of where you are relative to your peers. So I'm guessing the schools will therefore get an idea that you are in the top 20%. That being taken into consideration:

IMHO I think you'll get into (safeties/matches): Vanderbilt, Davidson, Colgate, UF.

High matches: Wake Forest, Bowdoin

Reaches: Tufts, Amherst, Williams, Cornell

Brown: near-impossible

Tufts, Amherst, Williams, Cornell have exellent pre-med programs as well as econ programs so you should seriously work hard on those apps -- put time into them! (not that youaren't already)!

Maybe retake the ACT to help you out a bit, at this point every point matters and an increase of 2-3 points ( i know its a lot) could up your chances at the above posters reaches and high matches a bit

hmm... what about affirmative action?

How much do you think it will help? By the way, nice screen name. I go fishing every spare moment I can.

lol, hopefully a lot... 'cause i'm a floridian latino applying to brown, amherst, and williams too :) (UF as well... lol, but they don't use affirmative action)

Is my ACT too low? Does coming from Florida help?

Oh also, I have a 4.0 so far Sr. Year. Does/will that count for anything?

My main question is: Do have a remote shot early at Dartmouth?????

bump........

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont believe you can apply EA to Notre dame AND ED to Darmouth.

I'm pretty sure you can. My CC told me I could.

Bump...Anyone else? I am starting to get anxious about all of this stuff.

It will be tough in my book, but give it a shot. You never know.

What will? Getting into Dartmouth? If so, I already know that and I won't be crushed if I'm rejected. I've already done all I can do. If not, are you talking about my whole process in general?

bump......

With the exception of Dartmouth and Brown, I think you will get into every other school. Maybe even Dartmouth if ED. The fact that your grades are competitive and you are URM will make your application pretty strong, esp. with your ECs. Don't let lolabelle scare you about Tufts. Your grades, URM and legacy status make that a practically a sure bet for you.

helppppppp
