Please chance me.

Ok, so chance me, please.

Senior, Asian (Chinese)
Really, really ghetto public school where only 20% go to a 4 year located in Stockton, California. We didn't have one person go to an ivy or top 10 school in over 5 years. In our 50 history, we only had 3 accepted to Stanford, 1 Yale, and One Columbia.
But, it has the IB program; really stupid policy of the city to do this. I took all IB or PIB classes since Freshman year.

GPA: 4.74 Weighted
3.88 Unweighted
Rank: 4/650
Counselor Recs: Pretty good, but my couselor has 500 other people to worry about.
Teacher Rec: One extremely good from History Teacher and one O.k from English.

I only sent in the ACT: 31 Composite

Extracurriculars:

Piano: 10 years, a lot of recitals, but no major awards. Send in CD.

Rotary Interact: Founder and President. We're going to Mexico this year to build playgrounds, and hosting a monster activity with Goodwill to collect old electronics. A lot of promotions.

Rotary International: I worked a lot with our sponsering club, including using my work earnings to donate 6 microscopes and 100 flashlights for a trailer to Uganda.

Golf: Varsity team in 11 and 12

Took P.E classes at local college cause IB doesn't allow of P.E during school year.

University of the Pacific Summer Camp: Piano performance
NSLC: Business
Rotary Youth Leadership Award- leading to full scholarship to Camp Royale
Stockton Symphony Master Class Performer

Other minor clubs: IB club, MESA, Key Club, Red Cross.

Job Experience: I worked for Youngrowth Toys Inc. since my freshman year as a Sales Rep. and office work. So far, I've made about 8000 dollars worth of sales and $3500 worth of profit. I use all my earnings to buy surplus toys and donate them to local charities.

That's about it. My essays should be pretty good and heartfelt. My stats might not be god-like but I tried my hardest to make the most of what I got in this little town. So, please tell me if I have any chance at all.

Hmm, interesting. It definitely sounds like you've aimed high and done some interesting things in your life. I personally do not know how much Stanford factors in your hometown and high school, but I do think that they matter. I feel that you have a decent chance - best of luck!

I think your stats are fairly mediocre. The scores are in the ballpark, but there are no exceptional extracurriculars to distinguish you. Same as me, actually.

Honestly, I think you have a good chance....but to put things in the correct perspective, you should really be ranked 1 or 2 if your School is "very ghetto" and hasn't sent many students to top-tier universities...
