Please CHANCE ME, I really appreciate it!!!
Thanks VERY MUCH!

looks good!
i think if you can get your SAT to 2150, which is only a 140 improvement, then you're prett solid

Hmmm... How do you know your IB predicted grades already? Are you a junior?

THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH Isolabella - Yup I'm working on pushing up the MATH especially, NO IDEA HOW I scored so low

And, Neineibu, yup I'm a junior, hence my school already has rough predicted grades for all of us. We weren't supposed to know them, but I BEGGED real hard and my teachers gave in lol :)

with improved SAT and good essays, I think you will stand a very healthy chance. GL

THANKS SOOOO MUCH patlees88
You've really boosted my confidence to aim for the Ivies after all these people have been saying how "WORRIED" or "DEPRESSED" they are with their 2100/2200 :(

But thanks! I'll apply and try anyway :D

you have a decent shot as is, and i think you would increase your chances significantly if you raised your SAT by 100+ points

decent, but why business?

Well after my internship this summer with International Trading, I figured this is what I REALLY want to do in the future.
I know Cornell is not the best for business. In fact I think it's 12th according to Business Week, and also the business major is a sub major within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences which is a little odd. But, I think Cornell's the place for me. I think I'd fit in that environment and would have a LOT to give and take.

It's so different from where I currently live. And the major I want to do there isn't very popular in Cornell, which is what I want. I dont' want overcrowded classes with so much competition that I get sick of the major.

Cornell is ranked 4th in Businessweek atm and the acceptance rate for AEM is 11% this year (14% last year).

It's the most selective department in ALS.

yea, AEM is fourth in Businessweek overall and ranked Number 1 in finance - yes ahead of Wharton.

Additionally, people be realistic, your SAT is too low for Cornell right now, I know people with much higher scores than you that have been rejected. Also, if you're going to go for AEM, your chances are that much lower. Don't expect to get in. I say its a reach for you. Get your SAT 2200+ then you have a decent chance. Like everyone else.

Additionally, ILoveBabyPink, you need more warranted reasons for why you want to go to Cornell. What you've said is pretty generic, and that's going to show in your essays. Another problem you have is that your splits suck. your lowest scores are math and CR which are arguably more important than writing.

If I remember correctly, the lowest SAT score for people who got accepted by AEM I saw on the stats thread was 2190. Of course, it represents only a small sample size; however, you should definitely work hard to boost up your SAT score. (Like what I am doing right now... I got 2140 >"<)

Also, your SAT IIs will be crucial in determining the difficulty of your teachers (how hard they mark etc). Because most I.B. teachers do NOT usually give out 7/7 as predicted. That being said, don't feel too pressured to get 800 because Cornell understands the differences between I.B. and U.S. curriculum. I know many of my colleagues got 650~700 for SAT II chem. (We have not covered solubility and acid and base in I.B. Chemistry 11 curriculum.)

And most importantly, why didn't you take maximum number of HLs (4, instead of 3), even if your counselor plans to choose "most rigorous available"? You should explain that in your application. Cornell understands the I.B. diploma very well.

Lastly, I hope you don't list ALL of the ECs you have. You should, and this is highly recommended, pick and choose, like picking plums, those that best represent your passion. ^^

I hope my suggestions and comments are not too insolent (sexy vocab!!) and are instead, helpful.

Also~ don't mention you starting your own business on your Wharton application ^^ I heard it doesn't like it...

^ yeah, IB teachers really don't give out 7s as predicted. it's like predicting a bright kid to get a 2350 on his SAT... i mean it COULD happen, but it definitely isn't a guarantee.

what does the business you started do?

Cornell2011: Yup! OFCOURSE it's a REACH for meeeeeeee!!! I'm only taking the courage to apply because last year 2 people from my school got into AEM with 2040 and 2000 with a predicted IB score of 39 and 40. But thanks! Yeah I understand HOW STUPID my splits were - I mean 660 on math - I'M SUCH AN IDIOT lol
Sorry! I didn't realise Cornell was 4th - here's the link that says it's 12th...wait it says it's 14th:

Undergrad B-School Rankings: Interactive Table

OH GOD! I just realised that it says 2006 - WOW I'M AN IDIOT - I LOVE YOU FOR TELLING ME!

Neineibu: I didn't take 4 HL instead of 3 because in Hong Kong, all the International IB schools only let you do 3 HL - IT SUCKS! But yeah :(
HAHA - don't worry - you're comments aren't "too INSOLENT poshword" :P, I mean it's what I posted this thread for right?

Okay I can't remember who asked what question so this is to hpmbs and Ephemeral2:
My teachers predicted me a 7 because we had IB mocks at the end of this year, which were moderated by IBO examiners (because our school is new to the IB), and for the English and Biology papers, I got 96% and 98% and the level 7 boundary was 80 or 85% I think, so yeah. I KNOW they don't give out 7's easily lol - that's why despite my 90% on Spanish, she gave me a 6.

hpmbs:
In Hong Kong, every year, selected Business students from each school are given the opportunity to start a business that will generate profit that can be used in the development of more environmentally friendly technology here. There's a pedal cart race every year for which Firms in Hong Kong, put in a team. It's sort of like Car Racing if you get me? We wanted to participate too, but the board told us we need to be listed as a company, so we raised $20,000 US and started the business, bought the pedal carts, registered etc. Basically, at the race, there's betting on the cart that will win. It's like Car/Horse racing kinda.

THANKS GUYS! Especially Cornell2011, I really appreciate that a Cornell student is giving me advice. Please keep posting.

P.S. Now that I read my reply for the "Why Cornell" question. Yeah - that was WAYYYYYYYYY cliche - sorry :P

I think yes, while your SAT's might be low, cornell2011 is way over-exaggerating by basically saying you can't expect to get in with those SAT's. The rest of your application shows an amazing well roundedness.

CollegeConfidential is frequented by the best and the brightest (most of the time) of high schools, so it is more than just a small sample size, it is an extremely biased sample.

If you want to be more confident about your application, go ahead and try to raise your SAT scores. But in no way feel obligated because someone else deemed your SAT scores so low that you should expect not to get in.

thanks so much :) you really boosted my confidence. Ofcourse I'll try, and I understand that it's very competitive, but the SAT isn't everything and although it might sound stupid to some - I was proud of my SAT :)
