I am a Junior at a very competitive High School. The school however does not offer many AP's, only in senior year. I ahve roughly around a 95 average and i have a 2160 on the SAT's and plan to take the ACT as well. I have a 670 in Italian, 700 in Us History and 770 in world history regarding the SAT 2's. My senior courses will include: AP Gov and Politics, Ap ENv science, pre calculus, economics, shakespear, world literature. italian 4, and 2 religion classes which i am required to take.
I am fluent in Italian. I have been part of The italian federatoin of italian american organizations of Queens and have been teaching italian to elderly and children. I am also apart of the youth court. i also have started a pilgrimage at my school to Assisi for next year. I volunteer at the MET and will be volunteerin the FIERI which is another non porfitable italian american organization. Every year I ahve gone to italy and have helped raised fundraisers in my town due to the lack of neccesties and due to the lack of money there is. For instance, soon there will be no longer be a pastor in the town since there is no money and everyone is moving out. Each year I raise fundraisers for the club that we have in New york that is made up of a majority of the people who are from our town and we send it over. Also I help arrange the feasts for the saints and gatherings at the square. i truly love my italian culture and will always try to spread it. I will also be attending boston college over the summer for a 6 week program which i will be taking 2 college credit courses which are philosophy and french revolution.

I am a white female who would love the oppurtunity to be a student at this school

sorry but your extra clubs and activities show no passion or commitment.
they are all random, unrelated, and too over the top.
You italian commitment will definitely set you apart from the crowd:)
however, top schools want to see quanity rather than quality.
read this again:

its amazing. really, its awesome!
but ivies are not looking at that like they used to.
they want to see a person who is REAL. who shows passion in 1-4 activities. not a whole bunch.
just an FYI
everything else is great:)

Fluent in Italian and only 670 on the SAT II? Hmm…
I highly recommend retaking that to get above 700, especially since your focus seems to be very strong on Italian.
I know 670 is relatively decent, but I mean, when you’re fluent, you are FLUENT. You score that 800. My friend scored 800 on the Chinese SAT II but she got one wrong and she got bumped all the way to the 40th percentile. Now that’s a lot of fluent people. Very, very fluent people.
Sorry, that’s my rant But basically, “your italian commitment” has lost its glow with that score. It’s not even above 700. I would be forgiving of 690…

I have to agree with FuturDoc12 that your EC’s seem to be scattered and lacking that spark. I would maximize your strengths by really showcasing Italy in your applications. Good luck!

eh…i think ivy admissions will surprise you. sometimes they like students who have random, unrelated ECs. the key to getting in is all in how you package yourself. you’ve got to make it sound GOOD. take all your ECs, find a common theme in them, and package them that way. its all about selling yourself.

thnak you guys so much and YES i do plan to retake the italian SAT 2 in december. I was so shocked but I did go in being rlly lazy about it so:P yea im retaking it

yes all of my outside work is pretty much italian focused. So should i still add the things i do in school or no? Im really attached to my faith thus explaining all the religious activities and just to be honest I just love being part of things and giving a hand I cant stand being home right after school

Keep up the good work!
And yes, you should definitely craft/package yourself, and “I just love being part of things and giving a hand I cant stand being home right after school” is a really great thing to explain to colleges through mentioning your ECs.
Focus on your Italian ECs but you should definitely talk about your school/religious activities because it means you are contributing a lot in many ways :D

Seems like the stats of the average Ivy League applicant who gets denied, but you almost never know because they do not take all of the “best” applicants.
