Anyway, I honestly see rejection. And Im not saying this to be mean. Admissions at UPenn is extremely competitive and selective. Your SAT scores don’t even TOUCH 2000 while the majority of people applying there has 2200+ SAT scores. In addition, your GPA is below average for UPenn. And while some of your ECs/Awards are impressive, it won’t be when compared to the other applicants applying to UPenn. Nothing there really sticks out because the students aplying to UPenn have those same EC stats, if not better.

Right now I see rejection but if you can get your GPA up by senior year, get a 2200+ on the SAT I can see it become a reach school. Good luck.

You’re a qualified applicant without anything that really jumps out. A 1330 SAT (I refuse to accept the existence of the writing section) is right within range… actually one of my friends just graduated from Penn this year, and she had a 1260 on the SAT, but she had the hook of living in Philly.

Chances are you’ll be deferred if you apply ED or waitlisted if you apply RD, but unless it’s a particularly competitive year, I doubt you’d be outright rejected. Write a kick ass essay and really make yourself stand out. Stay away from page 217 since everyone thinks that’s so unique that they do it, which means that admissions reads roughly 15,000 page 217s. I wrote about a risk I took, and I think that helped quite a bit!

If you write a good essay, it will obviously help your chances; that said, it’d be a little easier to have an essay stand out if it is not page 217.

I think you have a 40%-50% chance. I wouldn’t bother retaking SAT because ACT is exceptionally good. If you apply for ED than your chances will be increased but I see a “waitlisted.”
