Personally, I feel that many of your accomplishments are a bit…cliche. The math, the science, researching, hospital work… But then again, you still have a chance. I would say that you should probably include all your ECs.

Also, what were your AP scores? I don’t think Harvard or any other college really knows how many APs your school’s students normally takes, but if that means that you live in a rural area, the place you live in may be a plus for you.

About your essay, be careful not to sound attacking of your teacher, because that could reflect on your personality poorly! ;D Oh, and I think if you use the common application, you’ll need more than one.

Also, about your class ranking, Harvard will probably not know that three other people are being tied for first, but I’m sure your GPA will be fine. Now your SATs, don’t assume that you’ll get a 2300. It’s not a particularly easy test if you’re taking it for the first time, and you shouldn’t underestimate it.

All in all, I think you have the same chances as anyone else, but you’ll also have to work harder to show that you’re mature enough to attend college a year early. You might have to explain it if you have an interview, as well.

If there are faults here, I would say that your application seems to lack personality. As silversuz said, everything does feel cliched here. Just from this brief look (and I don’t want to sound harsh) but it seems like there are many, many kids exactly like you.

OMg you Asians are serioulsy a clone of eachother. Do yu guys get together and decide what to do and take? All of my Asian friends at my school have the same stats as you do.

I’m Asian, had an SAT score of 1890, a 3.81 GPA weighted and did next to nothing of interest in high school (besides schoolwork and a club here and there). No major awards, no internships (heck, I didn’t even get a real job until this year). However, I did write a decent essay and had excellent recommendations. I didn’t get into Harvard earlier this year, but I got in almost everywhere else I applied to. Who says that Asians are a clone of each other?

MyBlsflHrt, good luck applying to Harvard. You seem like a far more stronger applicant than I was. But stereotypes do appear, and honestly, Harvard is not going to accept everyone of your caliber because of the diversity issues that crop up.

As you consider Harvard and other schools, mind I entertain you with Boston College? BC has top-notch faculty in its chemistry department and excellent facilities to boot. I daresay that you should apply to a university based not on its prestige, but in what it can offer for your academic interests. Like chemistry? Apply to a school with a strong chemistry program. Applying to an elite school with a poor chemistry program is likely to do more harm than good. (Not to say that Harvard has a terrible chemistry program.)

I think its even more severe that one undergoes such sleep deprivation in order to get into Harvard. And if that were not enough it, its not even guaranteed that you get in ^^ ;)

I’m not going to lie but your application lacks focus. Like you ECs are all scatter and doesn’t show what you really like. It doesn’t reveal a passion

^^ Agreed but atleast you didnt waste your time in high school. Its hard to really predict what will happen so just apply (haha great advise right?). Good essays/teacher recs/SAT score + everything else you have = a chance to compete with ze pool of good students. GL

to put it bluntly, Harvard will see you as “just another textureless asian”. You have all the stereotypical activities, and nothing to really make you stand out (usamo, intel, etc.)
