Please chance me

Hello everyone, my name is Mike and I’am one those kids who wants to become something extraordinary in order to help the needy people around the world. Well, if somebody desires to be great, they need great education, right? This is where, I believe, College Confidential comes in. This is a site where the “aspiring hopefuls” like me post their profiles to see whether or not they have a good chance of getting into the Air Force.

So I beg everyone who views this: Instead of leaving my Thread without even a single word, could you guys take some time to view this and reply with your utmost honesty?

it’s a little late now…if you can, i’d take the sats again in jan and apply.

you can’t change much at this point, and you won’t know unless you apply.

did you already apply for a congressional nomination? if it isn’t already past the deadline, that will most likely come at the end of this month, so it’d be good to be on top of that.

Where did you get the idea that the mission of the United States Air Force is “helping needy people?”

[The mission of the United States Air Force is to fly, fight and win … in air, space and cyberspace.](http://www.airforce.com/learn-about/our-mission/)

Perhaps you want to join the Peace Corps and not the Air Force?

Okay you have some info that makes me ???

HUH? you either went this past summer or you are not chosen yet, seeing as selection for 11th grade does not come out until next March.

Either you are in 12th, thus you already attended SLS or you are not in 12th, but 11th, AGAIN, then you have not been selected for SLS.

All of that put aside, your SATs are low and you need to bring it up by 100 points. You also have not disclosed your Math curriculum…remember the AFA is known in the AF as The Little Engineering School in the Rockies.

BTW 4 yrs of Spanish is not something that will give you an edge…4 yrs of Chinese/Arabaic is a different story. It is expected that you have 4 yrs of foreign language. Remember every SA is the equivalent of an IVY

You really need to come clean…are you a JR in HS or a SR, because you will get better help if we know the real truth.

Sorry, if that comes across rude, but it is November

…plans at this point for SRs are reality. Additionally, no SR is chosen for SLS at the USNA for next summer, and at this point neither are JRS. The other tell that you may not be a SR, you are more concerned about chances and not about MOCS. At this point most candidates are concerned about MOC chances or medically qual, they are already candidates. If you are a SR you are missing the big pic on how apptmts work. For that purpose… again…a 1130 SAT will hurt when it comes to WCS since PAR (GPA and SAT) are 60% of WCS

We are here to help and want to do so, but you need to be honest regarding all the facts, otherwise you are going to get an answer that is not correct or realistic. Give the real facts to this date and we will give you the real answer on what you need to do to increase your chances.

I’m going to guess that he’s a junior since he mentioned only his AP scores from sophomore year and attending SS this upcoming summer (although I agree that he coudln’t know that yet). The SAT’s are low, but he certainly has a lot of time to improve them. And a lot of opportunities. Also, I’d recommend taking the ACT - my son did significantly better on that.

I’d also ask where you are on math (not counting stats). You really should be taking at least precalc next year. I don’t think just having the statistics would look that good.

Luigi - I’d say that he isn’t saying he’s looking for a peace corps type mission, just that he wants to do something significant and worthwhile with his life. A SA certainly qualifies.

Good luck!

Okay, I may stand corrected! I went back and looked at his older posts. He posted back in May that he was accepted for NASS. It looks like he posted this identical post back in May as well, so I’m guessing he just cut and pasted it again to try to get more input. So you guys are probably right that he is a senior! Which leads to the questions brought up regarding whether he’s improved his SAT scores in the meantime, what this years’ AP’s were, if he’s done all the nomination stuff, etc.? Well, Mike? How about an update?

we can’t tell. so posting this type of thing is a waste of your time and ours. we can say “improve this” and “that looks good” but it means nothing. we don’t know what the board members will see, like, or dislike.

biggest thing i see is this: do you want to get into the Air Force or into the Air Force Academy? i have no doubt you can get in the Air Force, but you need to decide if you want to go Enlsited or Officer, and if Officer then OTS, ROTC, or AFA. if you want to go AFA, then ask questions about that and we can help you out with your application or wondering what it’s really about

Take the ACT!
