Thanks

The process is so random that it’s hard to give you an estimate, but you most likely have a decent shot (though the B’s may hurt you a bit).

I think your test scores might offset those Bs.

solid scores, not great grades…how do your grades compare to the rest of your graduating class?

2370 SAT is “solid”? Just “solid”?

We don’t do class rank, so I’m not exactly sure, but I’m confident that I’m in the top 25% of a class of 130.

getting 2300+ on the SAT gives you a great chance at any college

Five Bs junior year following 3 Bs sophomore year is not going to be helpful at any superselective school, unless your class rank or school profile reveals that the grading at your school is particularly severe. Top 25% is not good enough to do that unless perhaps your school is a place like TJ.

While your test scores are good, plenty of kids with better grades and equally good ECs will present similar scores to schools like D.

Why are you taking 8 APs in May if you have taken 5 AP courses and only pulled Bs in most of them? Getting better grades in the classes you are actually taking would be a better use of your time than self-studying extra APs.

When I talked with a Dartmouth admissions officer in person, he told me that scores, GPA, and class rank were really just a way to get your foot in the door and that to get in, what you really needed to do is stand out in EC’s and other stuff not related to school. So I would say that you definitely have your foot in the door with your SAT score, you just need to wow them with EC’s. So I am not how sure those B’s will affect you.

A strong SAT is great, but it makes a downward trend in grades stand out all the more. You really need all A’s Fall of senior year. If you’d done it the other way around, with the B’s freshman year and straight A’s as a junior, your case would look better. You also need something that stands out in your EC’s. Right now, I’d say Dartmouth is a long shot. If Dartmouth only takes 11.5% of their applicants (as they did this year), they’ll have too many people who have the whole package – grades, SAT and EC’s.

What’s your unweighted GPA?
