I think you’ll get in. I am also Asian Indian. When I applied I had all A’s on my GPA (my courseload sounds a lot weaker, though), but I only had a 32 on the ACT. I think you’re SAT is really, really strong. I also had a lot of leadership positions and extracurricular positions in my high school. If this helps, I applied Early Action and got in.

Oh, that’s true about the B’s. I was focused on the test scores, etc. and didn’t really notice all the B’s. Try and get most of those up to A’s for your best shot. Remember if you apply EA, Georgetown won’t see any senior year grades when they make their decision.

i got in with a 3.0, and my most impressive extracurricular is painting club. if i got in, you’ll get in. i also agree with flight23. you seem like a solid ivy candidate

@ luvthecape: a lot of colleges (even Georgetown, I believe) do look at senior grades. If you get accepted, then blow off senior year, they can revoke the acceptance.

not that I think that will happen to you, Student931. good luck!

I realize they look at senior grades. What I was saying was that the junior year grades really need to be great because when you apply EA, the decision is made by December 1st and they do not take senior year into consideration when they decide. Of course they will look at the mid-year and end of year reports, but, hopefully you’ll be in at that point and your grades will not drop.

Agree with others above that your test scores are golden and your extracurriculars are good enough to get you in but the committee will likely be a bit concerned by the B’s. You have a downward trend, which colleges do not like to see. Having a health mix of A’s and B’s is one thing, but you really have mostly B’s. I don’t think it nixes your chances at Georgetown by any means but I would really try to get those B’s to a point where they are A’s or at least border-lined by the end of the school year. Also, get your college apps done over the summer so that you can hit the ground running and focus on getting A’s in your senior year courses.

If you apply EA to Georgetown (or EA/ED anywhere else) you may be deferred because the school wants to see how things play out with you one semester into senior year to see whether you can get back to where you were sophomore year. So don’t blow off first semester senior year just because you are applying early somewhere.
