please chance me?!

okay so i'm a white female rising senior from a nice pennsylvania suburb about 30 minutes from philly & 30 minutes from princeton. i go to a pretty nice public school with about 3,500 kids and i have 714 kids in my class. my rank is in the top 5% around 30, but it's guaranteed to improve a LOT this year due to the fact that i'm taking so many more AP classes than everyone else. my GPA will be 4.7 by the 2nd semester of senior year. since 9th grade i've had mostly A's and some B's, particularly during 10th grade when i had extended medical absence in and out of the hospital but my school record is clean and i've taken all the hardest classes my school offers.
APs: 10th - AP Euro (3), 11th - AP US History (5) & AP Language Comp (5), 12th - AP Gov, AP Psych, AP Bio, AP Calc & AP Lit Comp

for the SATs i took them in 10th without studying or anything and got 1890 but i've been practicing and getting 700+ in each subject for the practice tests i've taken so i'm expecting to do pretty well on them in october. i'm also retaking SAT subject tests because the ones i've taken so far are US History (770) and Literature (only 620:/)

the main thing i have going for me are my extensive extra curriculars...

letters of recommendation (if i can get them b/c my teachers are going on strike) will be from:
1. AP English teacher with doctorate from UPenn
2. History teacher who's advisor for 3 clubs
3. FPS coach

... i don't know if i can even fit all of that onto my applications! but i really love to be involved and lead and i don't just do things because they'll look good on college, i'm really very active in every activity i listed and dropped out of those i could not fully commit my time to such as nature club, foreign language club, and debate.

princeton has been my dream school forever. please don't be rude or too hard on me but just tell me what you think about my chances, it's much appreciated. thank you!! i'm also applying to penn state schreyer, pitt, william & mary, u penn, johns hopkins, and i don't know where else.

also the majors that i'm considering are biology, history, writing, or criminology but still not sure! please let me know if it's better to declare a major & switch later or just go in undeclared?

With your stats, you should definitely considers studying Criminology at Princeton. Good luck!

wow, thank you!

hahahahahahahaha.

hahahahahahahahhahahahahahah

hmm maybe you should look into Cornell instead…you seem perfect for that school

what are the haha’s for? if you don’t think i’ll make it, you don’t have to be mean about it. and thanks rtgrovel123, i’ll check out cornell!

sarcasm seems to bounce right off, huh.

sorry, just having some fun with you, op.

Aww…they weren’t laughing at you (your stats look good btw). They were laughing at this bc it was intended to be a ■■■■■■■■

Once you have concrete SAT I and IIs, hopefully in the 750 range, we can evaluate your chances more accurately.

Once you have either an admission letter or a rejection letter, we can evaluate your chances more accurately.

Wow, are a lot of Princeton students like newest newb, stridegumisbest, and iCalculus? I mean, I don’t typically generalize like this, but I know three people who go to Princeton with personalities really similar to the personalities of these three users. I thought it wasn’t a biggie since you can’t really draw conclusions from just three people, but it’s a concerning when all six people I know who go to Princeton - both online and offline - behave like this.

Just curious, since I’m considering applying this fall.

You don’t know me either in person or online, but I can assure you that I am nothing like newest newb and iCalculus are PERCEIVED to be. Drawing conclusions by the way someone posts is silly I think. Apply to Princeton if you want to and don’t if you don’t. But do not let the 6 people you think you know dissuade you.

I don’t “know” the three CC users per se, I meant from their posts. Thanks for the clarification.

That’s heartening to know. I guess I’ll just apply, and if I’m fortunate enough to be accepted, I can attend the prefrosh weekend and see how I like it. Thanks!

I’m not sure why newest newb, stridegumisbest, iCalculus, or anyone else behaves the way they do online, but I would not have chosen Princeton if I met or knew anyone there in real life who acts like those three do online.

Boy are you guys in for a surprise.

Besides, everyone knows that chance threads are completely useless, so by producing something humorous out of the otherwise inconsequential threads, we’re actually improving quality of life for everyone.

Laugh a little. It’s the internet.

The thing that drew my attention the most was the OP’s concern about whether she can get her teacher recommendations because they’re going on strike… Wow. That sucks, lol.
