I will have very strong recommendations. After being diagnosed with an illness during my sophomore year, my grades have improved significantly. I intend to major in atomic physics or theoretical mathematics. After being sick a significant amount of time sophomore year, I was placed into precalculus. I then decided to teach myself calculus. Without taking calculus, I earned a 5 on the AB exam. If you know of any other schools that are smaller in size (my preferred choice) that might be similar to my above list, please let me know. thanks!

Test scores were somewhat low for these schools, but I think you have excellent work and volunteering ECs. Those should be a great help on your application. And your illness explains the lower scores and grades, as long as you can bring them up or keep them up for the remainder of high school.

I’d say Bowdoin low reach, Dartmouth reach, BC match, Holy Cross low match, Villanova match. Don’t know enough about the other schools to give you a fair rating.

Dartmouth gets so many applicants from Mass. that you are going to need excellent stats if you are an unhooked candidate. A class rank and weighted GPA would help. But that being said, your SAT Reasoning will cripple your chances of admission to Dartmouth, and the breadth of your ECs is weak and unimpressive. You are going to have to seriously up your test scores, or you will almost guaranteed to be faced with rejection.

Bowdoin and Bates are my 2 and 3 choices, respectively. Being SAT optional, would it be favorable to submit only my SAT II/AP scores?

Nothing seems unrealistic with slightly higher scores except Dartmouth. I would not waste the ED and would consider using it for another choice. Colby and Trinity might also be of interest.

How does your SAT break down and will many with higher stats from your school be applying to the same colleges? Where do you fall on the grade distribution chart?

I got a 640/630/680 on the math/reading/writing skills, respectively. Unfortunately my school does not rank. I am thinking about applying to bowdoin ED instead of dartmouth.

nothing seems unrealistic as long as you bring your scores up. your extra curriculars are not killer but they are solid and consistent throughout your high school career. With bates and bowdoin being SAT optional, you do seem to have a better chance at these schools. Dartmouth is still a reach because of your test scores, and your SAT IIs are good except for history. I think Bowdoin ED would be a better choice for you just according to what you’ve shown. you have a solid list though and the other schools seem to be either matches or safeties.

I wouldnt say that Dartmouth is an “out of reach” school. Your SATII seems pretty stellar, with the exception of history. Your SATI is a little low, but I dont think its low enough to completely cripple you. I think it comes down to your essay. I think if you can write an amazing essay, you have a good shot.
