Being a first-generation college student only helps if your parents did not attend college period. If they went to school in a foreign country, it’s not the same.

Regardless, you being an overrepresented minority with mediocre numbers will be a big problem in admissions. It would help if you can provide a class rank, but I don’t think that there’s anyway to cover up a 3.7 weighted and a 29 ACT.

Although non-BME Hopkins isn’t that competitive, it will most likely be a big reach for you.

3.7 is because i’m taking pretty hard classes, with all these AP’s. Yes, my ACT is pretty low, i’m trying on improving that, i recently took the ACT this Saturday. Hoping for about 30 or more.

Class rank in top 10% for sure.

My dad went to college in foreign country.

Royalman: are you aware that Early Decision is binding? You have another thread about chances for Early Decision at W&M. You can only apply to one school ED because if accepted, you are committed to going there. If you apply Early Decision, you need to decide JHU or W&M. You can’t apply ED to both.

^He obviously knows that. OP is just trying to find out his ED chances at either school.

Yes, i just wanted to know my chances, i know it’s binding.
