Just got daughters jr. year grades and ACT scores. Her Academic weighted grades 10 and 11 is 3.9250 unweighted is 3.625. If we calculated correctly, her UC gpa is 3.772.
SAT 1800
ACT 27

Over 300 hours volunteer service (been volunteering at local hospital since freshman year)
3 years volleyball
3 years club volleyball
Asst. coach frosh/soph volleyball team
summer job as camp counselor

Is scheduled to take SAT II in October. Does she have a shot at Davis?? She would be applying as an english major
Thanks!

We weren’t sure if English 2 honors taken in soph year is acceptable for extra UC points so we didn’t include it. If it is, then her UC Gpa would be 3.86

get her SAT score up a little more and i think she’ll have a great shot.

She has a shot, but both her GPA and SAT I are slightly below the average for Davis. If she has time, she should study and try to take the SAT I again. Either way she’ll have a decent shot. Good luck!

honestly, i think it might also depends on the rigor of her coursework as well.

I took 3 APs junior year and 4 APs senior year.

At the time, my cumulative GPA up to senior year was a 3.25 (unweighted) probably around 3.5 weighted, SAT score 1950 and SATIIs were language: 720 and math IIC: 770.

I got in for this coming fall, however, by the end of my senior year i ended up with a cumulative GPA of 3.07 (unweighted)… =|

I think it also might depend on the personal statement as well.

her grades and scores look fine, but it’ll have a lot to do with her personal statement. i got in with a 3.39 gpa (unweighted) and had the same test scores, but i had a very strong personal statement.

I thought the UCD puts very little weight on the personal statement except insofar as it reveals hardships and events that they do consider.

well fortunately for us (Or unfortunately for her depending how you view it!!)she hasn’t any hardships!!! She’s already taken the SAT’s twice and the ACT once don’t think I can get her to take it again!! She’s not the best test taker and actually the first SAT score was a 1660 so she did bring it up the 2nd go around. She has never received a “C” on any grade of her transcripts all A’s and B’s and her junior year ended up with all A’s and one B in Envi Sci AP (Which would equal an A weighted) So solid trend with some upward progress might look good. I guess she will need to be creative with essays… The world she comes from has been for the most part quite boring!! Very high achieving public high school in wealthy area, very stable family life etc…Thanks for all the support and advice though :)

well her statistics still look fine, so as long as her personal statement is pretty good, she has a great shot at getting in

i’d say she’ll get in… assuming that her personal statement doesnt suck and you’re in california :)
