So thanks again for reading this, and please post your opinions!

well bump…

You’re a REALLY impressive applicant! I bet you’re in at Columbia ED, don’t know about UChicago though. Warning, obviously all the ivies are competitive and no one can give you a good chance, but I really think you have a great shot at Columbia ED.

thank you for the reply! I know the process is really random, and I’ll just hope for the best:)

Amazing shot at Columbia! Wish I had the same chances as you :)

Id say 70% chance at both schools. You seem like Uchi’s type of student too.

Good luck!! Chance me and please be honest!

thnx guys, 70% seems a very good chance for me. And I chanced back too

I think you have a better shot at Columbia. Very smart kid, not gonna lie I’m jealous. I think about the 65-75% range for Chicago as well. Columbia I think you’ll get in for sure.

I usually tell all ivy league applicants that no one is shoe in, but I believe you are as close as you can be. Valedictorian and impressive ecs. Well done and good luck!

70% chance? Lol.
You will be competitive, but don’t get disappointed if you get rejected, competition is tough man.

You have a great resume, but your GPA could be a little better. UChi is a high-match and Columbia is a low-reach. Please chance me back ED for Princeton (recent thread).

yes I think you’re right, so I’m not counting on my ED/EA. I am also preparing for lots of RD schools.

Wi11sF, my GPA is as high as it can get at my school, because there are lots of course restrictions xD. And I’ve chanced back.

As many have said, I think you have a great shot. Better than me :frowning: Best of luck!

Just remember Chicago’s accept rate is 8.8% and Columbia’s is 6.9%. It’s bloody competitive to get in.

Thank you for the replies guys! I understand the bloody competition, and that’s why I am applying EA and ED to those two schools, and hopefully that helps a little bit.

You’re a good applicant- truly, you are. However, a lot of people here are being far too optimistic.

Both are absolutely a reach, even ED and EA. As others have mentioned, Chicago and Columbia have incredibly low acceptance rates, meaning that a lot of good people are going to be rejected. As the Dean of Admissions at Chicago said during an Open House this year, he could kill every admitted student and replace them with someone else, and the class profile would still be as strong.

Are your chances better than the admission rate? Probably. However, saying that you have 65-70% chance is the height of ridiculousness. You don’t have any major hooks, and therefore, both are reaches.

Thanks debater! I think your comment has been objective and realistic, and I do realize I am one of the many many impressive applicants. I’ll just be waiting with a positive attitude :)

btw, i don’t know if coming from a very unrepresented geographic state is a hook.

I’d say that it probably is, but not as major a hook as being a minority. I think you said Hawaii, which I’m sure is underrepresented at many schools. Still, 60 to 70% is too high. Even for someone with a major hook, 60 to 70% would still be too high.

Yeah I really agree with you, I think there’s probably no point of asking for being chanced for this type of schools lol.
