Please chance my friend for UCLA engineering majors

Please chance my friend for 2 engineering majors. With which major do you think he would have a better chance at getting into LA? He enjoys both majors equally.

Materials Engineering:
Major GPA: 3.6
UC Overall GPA: 3.85
Will finish last 2 pre-reqs in spring prior to transfer.

Computer Science:
Major GPA: 3.7
UC Overall GPA: 3.85
Will finish last 2 pre-reqs in spring prior to transfer

Please take into account that materials have much higher admit rate and lower avg GPA admitted on UCLA Profile of admissions.

Thank you!

Please help chance my friend. Thank you

Go with Materials, CS gets more and more popular every year so this time the acceptance rate will be even lower, and the avg. GPA will be higher.

So what do you think his chance will be with those GPAs for each major?

Any chancing would be greatly appreciated!

Please help…

high match for MSE, low reach for CS

It is a high match for MSE even thought he has a low major GPA, because of the UC overall GPA? As for the CS, even with those GPAs, higher major GPA than MSE, that would considered a low reach?

even though*

yeah just looking at overall GPA because that’s the only stat they have

Are you certain?

This is for UCLA:
" The role of the GPA in admissions depends on the major. For applicants to Nursing and Engineering majors, as well as all majors in the College of Letters and Science, both the overall UC-transferable GPA and the GPA for the courses required for major preparation are considered in the selection process. For applicants to the School of the Arts and Architecture and the School of Theater, Film and Television, only the overall UC-transferable GPA is considered."

they don’t publish those though, so it’s hard to say

Could anyone who is familiar with engineering majors chime in as well?

Please help

Any input would be appreciated.

have your “friend” chime in;
