Please chance - Reach, Match, or Safety

My S is trying to come up with a list of schools and would like a combination or reaches, matches, and safeties... please help if possible.

He will be looking to major in engineering and/or business. He still hasn't decided but would like a discipline that combines both. Here are his stats:

ACT: 34
SAT: hasn't taken
SAT II: Hasn't taken but is scheduled to take Math II, Physics, and Chemistry soon
I think he'll get an 800 on Math and 700+ on the other 2
GPA: 4.0 unweighted... not sure weighted
Rank: 2/440
AP's: Took 1 AP in 10th, 5 in 11th, and is scheduled to take 7 in 12th.
He took the most he could schedule every year.
AP Scholar with Distinction
Ethnicity: Hispanic

ECs: Golf 4 year... Varsity all 4 years... Team Captain and District Champ (as team) twice
NHS President
UIL in Math (2nd in State once) for 7 years, Number Sense 7 years, Science also
Masterminds Captain... competed 3 years
Mu Alpha Theta President... Co-founder of club this year
HOSA all 4 years
Cross Country Freshman year (Varsity) - conflict with golf made him drop out.
NASA Aerospace Scholar program

Volunteer: Many hours as tutor for elementary math
Beach clean-up two years
Food Pantry hours
Many hours in church youth activities helping elderly

Work: Summer after 10th grade he worked at Boys and Girls Club for 2 months.
This summer worked at a Home Health... ran his own Vaccination Clinics
last two weeks of summer for Agency... really did an excellent job. Worked
all summer.

Other: Live in South Texas
Both parents college graduates.

Schools Applying to:

Harvard

Penn
Brown
Columbia
Rice
Duke
Cornell
MIT
Univ of Chicago
Univ of Texas
A & M
Princeton
Yale
Wash U of St Louis
Notre Dame
NYU
University of Alabama

I realize he has a lot of reaches but would like input if possible. Thanks.

Lol might as well add Dartmouth to that list so he can apply to all the Ivies

Obvious reaches for every applicant- Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, MIT (so don’t worry too much about those outcomes at all)

High Match/Low Reach- Rice, Cornell, Brown, UChicago, (Duke, Penn might be mid-reachs but I’m rooting for your son! )

Match- WUSL, UTexas, Notre Dame, NYU

Safeties- UAlabama, A&M

Also you should think about Caltech or NYUPoly if he’s looking into MIT and engineering.

Stellar ACT and interesting ECs but the quite-pleasant background despite being Hispanic diminishes his app slightly. If his SATs are extraordinary his chances will improve slightly and you might have a little pull if he has legacy at any of these school. All he has to do to ensure some of his reaches become matches is project himself well unto his app, frame it well (don’t get stuffy with this and that) and write splendid essays. I wish your son the best of luck, I’m applying this year too!
