I'm going to be a junior next year at a public school in my area. It's supposed to be a competitive school so maybe the colleges will consider that when they see my class rank. I don't know too much about the admissions process/colleges, but I would like to get into the Ivie's or other top schools, if possible. Please tell me how I am doing, and how to improve my chances =) I'm enrolled in the IB program

I have barely any leadership, but I am a Boy Scout and plan to Earn the rank of Eagle Scout soon. At my eagle project, I will definitely be a leader. Also, I plan to earn the Silver Medal of the Congressional Award by the time I apply. I participated in an Optimist essay contest and got a medal..not sure what it means though.

I'm in a year round swim club, and I was in the school team for my freshman and sophomore years. However, I was never too good and have no room on my schedule the next two years to fit swim.

I have been an active member or Key Club since my Freshman year. In my sophomore year, I joined the Science Olympiad Team, Math Club, Future Scientists and Engineers of America, and Future Health Care Professionals of America. I will be a cabinent member of Future Health Care professionals, and I've won a 5th place medal in Science Olympiad. I've been in my local Mosque's Youth Group since Freshman Year. In my freshman year, I Volunteered 200 hours at the USC LAC Hospital.

I've been doing independent research under a USC professor since my freshman summer. I got to know my professor/mentor very well and hope to get a nice recommendation from her. I hope to submit my research project into the LA county Science fair and perhaps get a chance at the Intel Science competition. In my junior summer, I plan to ask my mentor for a recommendation and apply to a prestigious summer research internship. Actually, should I even do this or stay with my professor?

Thank you guys soooo very much for your chances and advice. I really appreciate your help! =)
