*I speak Spanish and Japanese, in addition to English.
*My essays are pretty good. I have not seen my recs.

The Colleges:
Rose-Hulman (already in), Lewis and Clark (in with scholarship), Macalester, Denison, Olin, Swarthmore, Harvey Mudd.

I plan to go into engineering, math, or physics, but also have interest in foreign languages, philosophy, education, theater, linguistics, and cog sci.

So... chances at Olin, Swarthmore, and HMC? (I'm not too worried about Mac or Denison.) I'm specifically interested in my chance at a Presidential Scholarship at HMC.

Thanks a bunch!

I’m sorry but I don’t know much about Olin.
I think you have a good shot at Swarthmore.
and I don’t know what HMC is…

You’re 14!?!? shakes head

I’m sorry but I don’t know much about Olin.

You’re 14!?!? shakes head

Ummm, why didn’t you apply to Cal Tech or MIT? I’ve heard some amazing things about HMC, and you should not have a problem gaining admission with your record. It might have been wise to apply to Yale, it seems like it would be a good place for someone of your diverse interest. What about Reed College, it is an amazing place for young intellectuals.

Well, I’m the opposite of peaceofcake, I know HMC and I looked up Olin, but don’t know what Swarthmore is.

-HMC you have a decent shot of getting into with your stats, but I don’t really know if your age will help you significantly or hurt you.
-Olin, Holy **** they look selective. Good luck, judging from what I saw, you have a pretty good shot of getting in, although their applicant pool is probably competitive as hell

14??? I thought that I was a young senior, and I’m graduating shortly after I turn 17…

At the age of 14, you already have a better application than a lot of the Ivy league applicants. I don’t know how your extreme age will factor in, but your stats are one of the few on this website that has truly impressed me.

Its slightly disconcerting, however, that you only took one AP course. But I guess you have done so much at your college already. Your SAT II scores are surprising… Perhaps some of those linear algebra and differential equations messed your good old Math II and Physics up?

Yea same as disasterpiece… I thought I was young when I skipped 2 grades. Good grief! You don’t even need my usual analysis to know you have great chances at every college.

Have you tested your IQ yet? I nominate you for the highest in your state.

I want to go to a small school, so MIT, Caltech, and Yale are out. I didn’t apply to Reed because I visited and everyone was just a bit too strange for me…

I guess I should have mentioned that AP courses aren’t offered at my school, hence no AP courses. Yes, I realize my SAT II scores are quite low. It’s been so long since I took that math… and my school’s physics classes are very “depth over breadth.” As far as the Spanish, I was very surprised by my low score. But I have letters from my college Spanish teacher saying I’m one of the best students he’s ever had, so I think that’ll make up for it…

Thanks all for the chances. And I personally know one person in my class who is undoubtedly smarter than me. So thanks for the compliment Sasoo8, but I don’t think I top my state in IQ.

I think the biggest hurdle you face is having colleges believe you can be socially successful there. Do try to convey maturity and comfort level away from home in any way possible.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to emphasize those in my apps. I included a supplemental letter (from me) and a rec addressing those issues, so hopefully they won’t see my age as a problem.
