My son is OOS.

34 ACT

800 CR
800 writing
700 math

3.6 or 3.7 gpa unweighted

But in the top 5% of his class (barely, by two people)

He is on the debating team, and has published a few writings in minor publications, but other than not, nothing outstanding in the way of ECs.

I’m from FL as well, I got in two years ago with a 2140, 31 ACT, 3.8 GPA, ECs like debate and drama and other good but not great things. I’d say your son has a good shot.

Decent chance for both. UC is more gpa-focused, however. But looking for $$.

FLdad: your s should also consider USC which pays well for high test scores. Automatic discount for NMSF.

Blue Bayou:

Unfortunately, he was not a NMSF.

He was a late bloomer.

umm, he still might garner some $$ from 'SC. Might be worth an app.
