Essay: Wrote about how I discovered the power of leadership in working to re-elect the governor, how he inspired the people he spoke to and gave them hope. I think it's solid and personal.

Wrote one about my role in working for my parents newspaper, helping Chinese-American immigrants to assimilate, which was really good IMO.
Wrote one about why I wanted to go to UMich, which was honestly sub-par.

Recs: One from English teacher and one from History teacher; both should be comprehensive, and mostly positive.

UW GPA is on the low side so your chances will depend quite a bit on how competitive your school really is and how challenging of classes you have taken. SAT is good. Taking it again is not likely to help.

I say low chance, you’ve only taken 2 APs and your UW GPA is on the low side, plus you are OOS. I guess it would depend on how much they care about your ECs

I (think) that UMich is pretty favorable to my school in recognizing the quality of our classes. We had a 55% acceptance rate at UM last year, which is pretty good for out of state, and generally everybody gets 5’s when they do take APs. Or maybe the kids who applied last year were just that qualified, but who knows, 20 of 37 admitted is really what’s giving me hope.

What’s your class rank or decile? What school/major are you applying to? If Engineering or Science, would you really want to live on North Campus with MLDWoody?

We don’t rank, and no one has ever told me my percentile, nor is it on my transcript from what I’ve seen.

We do use Naviance, which puts up a scatter gram of the students around my GPA/SAT. Where I am, it’s mostly wait lists, with one or two acceptances and rejections. Of course, that doesn’t consider a bunch of factors.

I am applying to the College of LSA, for whatever that’s worth. Would that help or hurt my case?
