Please Chance! Will Chance Back!

Hey guys!

So I'm looking at a whole range of schools and though I'm starting to worry a bit early, I am still pretty nervous about this stuff. Right now I'm a rising junior.

Colleges:
UPenn
Cornell
Columbia (legacy)
Dartmouth
UChicago
Claremont McKenna
Williams
Amherst
UMich
Penn state
Uconn (in state)
Johns Hopkins
Swarthmore
Northwestern
BC
USC

Ethnicity: Asian American (male)
GPA: 4.5/6 (no weighted grades, grades are on a scale from 1-6, 4.5 is top 40%)

Junior year schedule:
AP Spanish
AP physics B
APUSH
AP calc AB
Advanced English seminar

Tentative senior schedule:

Independent spanish project
AP calc BC
AP physics C
AP Econ
journalism

Sports:
-Water Polo (captain)
-Swimming (captain, team is top 20 in the nation, won conference championships for past 2 years and undefeated, though my times aren't recruitable to D1 colleges)

EC:
-Editor of school newspaper (paper is nationally ranked, top 10)
- founding board member of global health innitiative
-cello (7 years)
-all male acapella group member
- teach disabled/mentally challenged kids how to swim every sunday

SAT: 2240 (on first practice test. Taking actual in October)

SAT II:
Math II- 750
Will take spanish and physics.

So what do you guys think? All comments are welcome, and am open to any criticism (school list, grades, etc.)

Your EC’s are pretty good, not sure what the global health initiative is? Penn state and U Conn are safeties. Cornell seems attainable for you, and Columbia is a low reach due to your legacy status. Dartmouth and U Chicago are probably reaches. You need to take the ACT and get a 750+ on physics

Chance me back?

Thanks so much!!

You’re a match/high match at Williams, Amherst, BC, Swarthmore and USC. I don’t know Claremount McKenna and like the other poster noted, UConn and Penn State are safeties. The rest are reaches.

Chance me back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1528232-chances-georgia-tech-uga-georgia-state.html</a></p>

You are on the right path. Your ECs are good. I can only say do well on SAT and ACT. 2240 on a practice test is a good start.Good Luck!!!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1528336-do-i-have-chance-northwestern-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

All have been real helpful!! Am getting back to you guys on the chances now

If a 4.5 is top 40%, then I doubt it will be that impressive to colleges. Does your school report rank? If so, admissions will be very difficult, as colleges don’t want their % top ten to drop.

Having only a practice test to judge your SAT off isn’t very helpful – I’ve found a lot of my friends generally score lower on the actual exam.

Your activities all seem great, but none are truly standout.

UPenn -High Reach
Cornell - Mid Reach
Columbia (legacy) - Mid Reach
Dartmouth - High Reach
UChicago - High Reach (Do you write well? If so, it will be much easier to get in.)
Claremont McKenna - Mid Reach (You don’t mention interest in government, which is something that can be really helpful)
Williams - Mid Reach
Amherst -Mid Reach
UMich - Match
Penn state - Safety
Uconn (in state) - Safety
Johns Hopkins - Low Reach
Swarthmore - Mid Reach
Northwestern - Mid Reach
BC - High Match
USC - High Match

I’d expect that you get into UMich, Penn State, UConn, BC, USC, and probably a couple of the others.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1527524-chance-me-ivies-lacs-athletic-recruit-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

^my schools is one of the most prestigous boarding school in the nation, and does not report rank. Additionally, Not many people take APs until senior year, which is probably why my gpa is so low. Thanks for the feedback though! And for the uchicago question, writing is my strongsuit. As for the claremont question, not really.

Forgot to add that I just got an intership with the Wall Street Journal for next summer. My dad also teaches classes at dartmouth once a month if that helps at all…

Bumpppp???
