Please chance. Would appreciate it alot.

hello,

I just finished up my first semester at a four year college. Below is my main info.

HS GPA - 2.8

College GPA through first semester - 3.67 (15 credits)

I am taking another 15 credits next semester and hope to stay in the same GPA range or improve.

Varsity Athlete at college (i'm not sure if this helps at all)

SAT's - 2010 (Math 750, Reading 650, Writing 610

Male

White

No bad marks at all besides lots of C's....never got a D on my high school transcript

Reasons for transferring - decided I do not want to pursue varsity athletics but am happy I gave it a try. I want to pursue a business degree in accounting/finance but am not allowed to do so at my current school. My current school also does not allow very much academic freedom, meaning its a very limited business program. Looking for a different college experience.

These are the schools I plan on applying for fall 2010 transfer.

James Madison University (In-State).....I feel pretty good about getting in here so I am looking at it as a safety. but a safety I very much like.

I am trying to determine another possible safety.

The rest are schools i guess you could call reach schools

Virginia (In-State...Legacy)

William & Mary (In-State)

Virginia Tech (In-State)

UNC-Chapel Hill

Villanova (application isn't until after 2nd semester grades)

Emory (application isn't until after 2nd semester grades)

UT-Austin

That is it so far. however i am very open to suggestions and thoughts.
Thank you.

i suggest waiting to apply for junior year to make up for your weak HS stats

I think you should call up the schools and see if they request second semester’s Freshmen grades. If some of them do, then wait so. If not, I’d say take some Summer classes, earn more credits, and then apply for the Spring of Sophomore year. Fall admission will be a stretch for you unless you can explain greatly in your essay. I, myself, have terrible high school grades and I already think that as of this situation, I would be stretching for hours to gain an admission into the Fall too. I’m not in College yet, I’m still a Senior in High School, so don’t think I’m mr. expertise.
