essays should be fine

Your gpa and rank are terrific. ACT is a bit unfamiliar to me (most kids around here take SATs…check a guidebook to get their 50%). I’m not certain what your interests are: math? science? English? The sports are okay, but unless you’re a recruited athelete, it’s won’t tip their decision. And your other ECs are sparse. My guess is you’re a good shot, b/c of your gpa. You’d have a better chance if you built up your ECs. Try to also show real interest. Visit, interview.

Your essays need to be better than “fine.” You need to make yourself stand out for the literally thousands of other equally or better qualified students applying for your spot, and essays are the best (and some may argue only) way to show this.

thanks szweebop, yea i visited this summer…beatiful campus, awesome atmosphere. will they take note that i visited when judging my application? and a 31 ACT is equivalent to 2100 SAT, im aiming for a 32 ACT which is about a 2160-2180 so yea thats the breakdown there. Also, I forgot to mention that I have a part time job (as a Go Kart attendant/serviceman) which begins in april and closes in november and I work about 20 hours a week. So hopefully that will help.

yea kevdude good point. im done my common app essay which my ap english teacher is in the process of grading right now but im going to try to write a really solid essay for the supplement part. also, i should have great recs so hopefully that will count for something. Im just hoping that my application gets a good look so I have at least a good shot at getting in.
